22 Immigrating to the United States --- Text Stolen from ReigelRidge.com !! ---
William immigrated about 1867, settling in Cincinnati
G.
23,24,25,26 There was a "Fr. Siekmann" who arrived in New York
G on 26 Nov 1866, aboard the
Germanic from Hamburg, reporting his age as 25 and occupation as merchant.
27 But that seems unlikely that was him as he filed an intention to become a citizen 10 Feb 1868 in Hamilton Co., Ohio
G, and he would not have been eligible to do that until he had resided in the United States for two years.
28 His baptismal name was Friedrich Wilhelm Siekmann but after his immigration to the U.S. he used simply William as is given name, and eventually "Americanized" the spelling of his surname to Siekman.
29 William married first Augusta Bohmeyer, daughter of Henry Bohmeyer and Anna Maria, posibly in Preußen, as no record of their marriage has been found in Cincinnati.
8,9 William and Augusta, with their daughter, Victoria, appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., Ohio
G, in the household of her parents, Henry Bohmeyer and Anna Maria.

G, after they were married.
22 They appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Burlington, Boone Co., Kentucky
G, enumerated 21 Jun 1880. Their son Frederick was listed as living with them, as well as her children by a previous marriage, Emma, Henry, and Bernard Bicknaver. Also listed were Willie Siekman, age 5, identified as a nephew, and two German-born men identified as "servants." Since their occupations are shown as "laborer" it seems likely they were farm workers, rather than household servants.
39 In the 1880 census he reported he rented for a fixed amount 80 acres of tilled land, 60 of woodland, and 40 of other land, valued at $11,500. He had tools and implements worth $100, and $1,000 worth of livestock. He reported that he had spent $25 in repairing fences in the prior year, and two weeks of hired labor. He reported four horses, 31 milch cows which had dropped three calves and produced 2,000 lb. of cheese the prior year, one sheep, 20 swine, and 100 chickens that had produced 200 dozen eggs. He reported that he had produced 900 bushels of corn on 15 acres, 10 of oats on 10 acres, and 75 of apples, worth $75, on 75 trees on 2 acres. He had cut 18 cords of wood worth $55, for a total value of all products of $1,000.
