     Varena Long was born on 2 Sep 1837 in Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen, Kingdom of Prussia.6,7,8
     Her father died before 1848, when Varena was less than 11 years old.18
     Varena arrived in New York on 26 May 1848, with her mother, Lina Pfister, and her uncle Martin Pfister. They arrived aboard the ship Baltimore, having departed Le Havre, France, stating they intended to become inhabitants of Ohio.19,20,21
     She and her mother settled with her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs Sebastian Keiser, four miles north of Huntington, where she living until her marriage.5
     Her mother died about 1850, when Varena was about 12 years old.22,23
     Varena appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Huntington Co., Indiana, enumerated 27 Aug 1850, in the household of Sabastian and Matilda Keyser.24
     Varena married Frederick Kuhlman, son of Ernst Heinrich Kuhlmann and Anne Marie Elisabeth Fenncker, on 22 Nov 1857 in Huntington Co., Indiana, with D. Talapperty, justice of the peace, officiating.9,10,11
     Varena and Frederick appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Huntington, Huntington Co., Indiana, enumerated 4 Jun 1860, reporting real estate valued at $800 and personal estate of $50. Their children William and Mary were listed as living with them, as was Eve A. Kitch, age 12, relationship unknown.25
     Varena and Frederick appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Huntington, Huntington Co., Indiana, enumerated 20 Jun 1870, reporting real estate valued at $1,000 and personal estate of $100. Their children William, Mary, Emma, Elizabeth, Frederick and Charles were listed as living with them.26
     Varena and Frederick appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Huntington, Huntington Co., Indiana, on North Guilford St., enumerated 8 Jun 1880. Their children William, Mary, Emma, Elizabeth, Frederick, Charles, Joseph, Matilda, Anna and Margaret were listed as living with them.27
     Varena and Frederick appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Huntington, Huntington Co., Indiana, at 116 Guilford, enumerated 6 Jun 1900, reporting they owned their home, free of mortgage. Their children Elizabeth, Joseph, Matilda, Anna and Margaret were listed as living with them.28
     Varena died on 1 May 1905, her home, 146 North Gulford St., Huntington, Huntington Co., Indiana, at age 67.12,13,14 She was buried on 3 May 1905 in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Huntington, Huntington Co., Indiana.15,16,17
