     Joseph Kuhlman was born on 29 Jun 1870 in Indiana.11,12,13
     He appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Huntington, Huntington Co., Indiana, in the household of his parents, Frederick Kuhlman and Varena Long.5 He appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Huntington, Huntington Co., Indiana, in the household of his parents.6
     He appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Huntington, Huntington Co., Indiana, in the household of his father.16
     He was a plaster, like his father and brothers.17,18,19
     Joseph was named an heir in the will of his father dated 5 Jul 1918, in which he was to receive an equal share in the estate with his seven siblings.20
     Joseph appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Huntington, Huntington Co., Indiana, at 28 N Jefferson St., enumerated 9 Jan 1920, as one of 12 people residing in a lodging house operated by Mary C. Milligan.21
     Joseph moved to Fort Wayne by 1923, when he was living at 1414 Columbia Ave. and working as a plasterer. It appears he did not stay there long, as he is found in the city directory only for that year.22
     Joseph appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Pittsburgh, Allegheny Co., Pennsylvania, at 236 Shady Ave., enumerated 10 Apr 1930, as one of six men residing in a lodging house operated by Frances Meakim.23
     He continued to work as a plaster in Pittsburgh, but by 1940 he was a watchman in a public garage. He reported that year he had worked 40 hours the last week of March, and 52 weeks the prior year, earning $1,000. By the time of death he was working as a laborer.24,25,26
     Joseph appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Pittsburgh, Allegheny Co., Pennsylvania, at 343 Denniston St., enumerated 3 Apr 1940, as one of three lodgers in the household of Margaret McQuillen.27
     Joseph died on 26 Oct 1962 in Pittsburgh, Allegheny Co., Pennsylvania, at age 92.14 He was buried on 29 Oct 1962 in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.15
