Narrative:

Mariah Brady was born about 19 Feb 1814 in Ohio.6,7,8
She was probably the female age 15 to 20 listed in the household of her father, Benjamin Brady, in the 1830 Federal Census of Fairfield Twp., Highland Co., Ohio.14
Mariah married John M. Street on 7 Oct 1832 in Highland Co., Ohio, with William Wright, justice of the peace, officiating.9,10,11
Mariah and John M. Street moved to Missouri, where her parents also resettled, with their four children about 1839. Their younger son, George, died en route, in Lafayette Co., and was buried at Dover Cemetery. She was probably the female age 20 to 30 listed in the household of her husband in the 1840 Federal Census of Wakenda, Carroll Co., Missouri.15
Mariah and John appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Carroll Co., Missouri, enumerated 8 Nov 1850, reporting real estate valued at $2,000. Their children Sarah, Andrew, Elvira, Julia, James, John, Benjamin and William were listed as living with them, Joseph A. Street, thought to be his brother, and his wife Arena, who was Mariah's sister, were also listed in the household, with their son Paul.16
Mariah and John appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Morris Twp., Carroll Co., Missouri, enumerated 17 Jul 1860, reporting real estate valued at $8,400 and personal estate of $1,850. Their children James, John, Benjamin, William, Mary, Jessie and Charles were listed as living with them.17
Mariah and John appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Morris Twp., Carroll Co., Missouri, enumerated 6 Jul 1870, reporting real estate valued at $12,400 and personal estate of $2,924. Their children Benjamin, William, Jessie, Charles and Melkager were listed as living with them.18
On 24 Jan 1878 the court ordered the administrator of her father's estate to pay her $150 as her share of his estate.19 On 25 Jul 1878 the court ordered him to pay her her remaining share, $32.22.20
Mariah and John appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Morris Twp., Carroll Co., Missouri, enumerated 3 Jun 1880. Their son Melkager was listed as living with them. Their sons William and Benjamin and their families were apparently living close by, as they are listed as the preceding and following households in the census record.21
Her husband died on 28 Jun 1887.22
According to law Mariah, as the widow, was entitled to a year's provision from her late husband's estate. On 2 Aug 1887 she was provided 15 bushels of wheat, 3 shoats (young hogs), and 15 barrels of corn, valued at $33, as part of that allowance. At intervals through Feb 1888 she was provided sugar, coffee, baking goods, wearing material and a pair of shoes valued in total at $27. In Aug 1888 she was provided coffee, sugar, a pair of slippers, and a pair of shoes, for a total of $7.50.23
Mariah as widow was entitled to $400 from the estate by law. On 2 Aug 1887 she took part of that in personal property: a cow and calf, a brood sow, four acres of standing corn, and 75 bushels of oats. The total appraised value was $61. She was paid the balance in cash.24 Mariah was paid $15 on 8 Mar 1888 for money and labor expended to care for the hay crop belonging to the estate the previous July.25 When the final distribution of his estate was made in Aug 1889 she received an additional $202, the same share as their children, less the $400 she had already received.26
Mariah received a distribution of $114 from the estate of her sister Elvira, as reported in the final settlement report for the estate, which was filed 13 Feb 1900.27
Mariah appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Leslie Twp., Carroll Co., Missouri, in the household of her son Charles and his wife Iola James. Her son William and his family were apparently living nearby as they appear as the second preceding household in the census record.28
Mariah died on 7 May 1902.12 She was buried in the Streets Family Cemetery, Bogard, Carroll Co., Missouri.13
