Melkager C. Street was born in Sep 1860 in Missouri.8,9,10He appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Morris Twp., Carroll Co., Missouri, in the household of his parents, John M. Street and Mariah Brady.17 He appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Morris Twp., Carroll Co., Missouri, in the household of his parents.5
Melkager was issued letters of administration on 26 Jul 1887 in Probate Court, Carroll Co., for the estate of his father, who had died intestate (without leaving a will.)18
Melkager married Maud S. Moore on 1 May 1889 in Springfield, Greene Co., Missouri, with Rev. J. W. Lowrance officating.11,12
In the final distribution of his father's estate in Aug 1889, Melkager and each of his living siblings received $602.17 9/11. He had previously collected his fee of $120 for administering the estate.19
Melkager purchased 20 acres in May 1899 from T. R. Lee, for $100. the property was located about five miles southeast of Springfield.20
Melkager and Maud appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Clay Twp., Greene Co., Missouri, enumerated 7 Jun 1900, reporting they owned their farm, free of mortgage. Their daughter Reba was listed as living with them.21
He was a farmer in 1900.22

By 1904 Melkager was working as a houseman, and living at 507 South Ave., Springfield.23
Melkager moved to California soon after that.
Melkager filed a claim for a 160- acre homestead near Victorville, California, sometime before 1908. On 3 Oct 1911 Forrest M. Ackley filed a contest to that application on the grounds that Melkager had not spent the required $1 per acre in labor or money to cultivate or irrigate the land as required by law, and in fact abandoned it for more than three years. It appears the contest was successful ast Melkager did not gain title to the property.24
Melkager appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Los Angeles, Los Angeles Co., California, at 1958 Pensylvania Ave., enumerated 29 Apr 1910, rooming in the home of Ohio Binckley and his wife and son.25
He was a laborer, working in lawn care in 1910.26
Melkager died on 18 Oct 1912 in Los Angeles Co., California, at age 52.15,8 He was buried in the Streets Family Cemetery, Bogard, Carroll Co., Missouri.16
Melkager's estate in Missouri was administered by Henry S. LeCompte, the public administrator for Greene Co.. He filed a final settlement of the estate in Springfield on 9 Feb 1914, reporting the value of the estate as $1,103.95.27,28
