Thomas registered for the draft for World War I on 7 Jun 1917, while living at 2250 Jackson Blvd, Chicago, Cook Co., IllinoisG, reporting he was employed as a clerk, by Standard Oil of Indiana, in Chicago.1

No advertising has been found with the name of the firm after his father's death. The firm seems to have limited itself to managing the family's buildings, now owned by his father's estate and the descendants of his father's brother Rivers and sister Ellen.19,20,21
His father's estate was probated 8 Aug 1925. Under his will the entire estate, reported to be worth $400,000, was to pass to their mother for her lifetime. At her death it was to be divided equally between him and his brother Henry.22
