Narrative:

Clara E. Long was born on 13 Feb 1862 in Brown Co., Ohio.7,8,9
She appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Williamsburg Twp., Clermont Co., Ohio, in the household of her parents, Henry J. Long and Hester Ann Windsor.18
She was not listed with her parents when they were enumerated 16 Jun in Pike Twp., Brown Co., Ohio. She may have been the Clarra Long, age 17 who appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., Ohio, at 17 Elm Street, enumerated 2 Jun 1880, in the household of George and Mollien O. Fenger. She was listed as a cousin, likely the cousin of Mollien, whose mother was a Long according to online trees. But no connection has been found between that Long family and Clara's family, leaving room for doubt about whether this was the same Clara Long.19,20,21
Clara married first John A. Barrow about 4 Jun 1880 in Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., Ohio.10,11,12
No record of what ended that marriage has been found, but she was apparently either divorced or widowed by 1885 because she re-married then.
Clara married second Frederick S. Brose, son of Christian Heinrich Wilhelm Brase and Anna Maria Elisabeth Louise Wiemann, on 23 May 1885 in Brown Co., Ohio, with William Hight, justice of the peace, officiating. He was the widower of Debra Jane Gardner.13,14
Clara and Frederick appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Sterling Twp., Brown Co., Ohio, enumerated 4 Jun 1900, reporting they owned their farm, free of mortgage. Their children Thomas, Howard, Emma and Henry were listed as living with them, as were his daughter by his prior marriage, Anna, her daughter by her prior marriage, Hattie M. Barrow, and Clara's father.22
Clara and Frederick appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Sterling Twp., Brown Co., Ohio, enumerated 23 Apr 1910, reporting they owned their farm, free of mortgage. Their children Thomas, Emma and Henry were listed as living with them, as was Thomas' wife, Minnie E. Davidson.23
Her husband died on 12 Feb 1917 in Sterling Twp., Brown Co., Ohio.24,25
Clara appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., Ohio, in the household of her daughter Emma and her husband, Lowell Smith.26
Clara died on 2 Sep 1923, at her home, 7 Elston Court, Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., Ohio, at age 61.15,9 She was buried on 5 Sep 1923 in New Harmony Cemetery, New Harmony, Brown Co., Ohio.16,17

Research Note, 21 Aug 2024:
No reliable information has been found about Clara's first husband. His name is known only from two newspaper clippings about the issuance of their marriage license, both showing him as John A. Barrow. The original marriage license was lost in a courthouse fire. There were several men of about the right age named John Barrow or similar in the in the greater Cincinnati area, but no other have been found using the given name John A.

Some online trees show that John A. Barrow was the son of Abraham Barrow and Lydia Danbury and husband of Clara E Long. They show, without citing any source, that he died in 1884. No death records that might be him have been found.

Other online trees show that the son of Abraham Barrow and Lydia Danbury was John Henry Barrow, who married Blanche Maud Lewis, and died in 1926. Those facts are supported by source citations, but no mention of a marriage to Clara Long is included, and no records have been found for this John Barrow linking him to her or their daughter.27,28,29,30
