Raymond Earl Brose was born in Sterling Twp., Brown Co., Ohio, on 5 Sep 1900 according to the county record of his birth, but he consistently claimed he was born on the 20th as an adult.7,8,9He appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Sterling Twp., Brown Co., Ohio, in the household of his parents, Frederick S. Brose and Clara E. Long.4
Raymond married first Frances Henrietta Carroll, daughter of Charles M. Carroll and Frances Palmer, on 24 Sep 1919 in Hamilton Co., Ohio, with Rev. Joe C. Gurnther officiating.10,11
Raymond and Frances appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., Ohio, in the household of his sister Emma and her husband, Peter Lowell Smith.23
He was a conductor at the time of his first marriage, but a machinist at a machine shop by 1920.24,25
