     1617 Frances Henrietta Carroll was born on 12 Apr 1902 in Cincinnati, Ohio.5,6,7
     Her father died on 12 Mar 1904, when Frances was 1 year old.18
     Frances appeared with her three sisters on the 1910 Federal Census of Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., Ohio, in the household of Edward Burger, her stepfather. Their mother was not listed in the household. Whether that was an error, or if she was actually living elsewhere, is unknown.19
     Her mother died on 4 Feb 1917, when Frances was 14 years old.20,21
     Frances married first Raymond Earl Brose, son of Frederick S. Brose and Clara E. Long, on 24 Sep 1919 in Hamilton Co., Ohio, with Rev. Joe C. Gurnther officiating.8,9
     Frances and Raymond appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., Ohio, in the household of Peter Lowell Smith and Emma Jane Brose, his sister and her husband.17
     Frances sued Raymond for divorce in Hamilton Co., Ohio, on grounds of neglect. Her divorce was granted 21 Oct 1929.10
     Frances married second Paul Reinhard Schuman, son of Moritz Schuman and Hedwig Kloth, in Feb 1930 in Covington, Kenton Co., Kentucky. He had previously been married to Grayce E. Maitland. He was listed as divorced in the 1920 census, 11 months before his marriage to Grayce, but no record of an earlier marriage has been found so the census record may be in error.11,12,13
     Frances and Paul appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., Ohio, at 306 Broadway, enumerated 14 Apr 1930, as lodgers, with three other couples and two young men, in the household of Charles Browne and his wife Ella. Her children from her prior marriage, Vernon and Howard, were listed as living with them.22
     Frances and Paul appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., Ohio, at 3912 Ludlow, enumerated 18 Apr 1940, reporting they owned a home valued at $2,500, and that he had lived in South Dakota in 1935 and she and the children had lived in Ohio. Their children Paul and David and her children Vernon and Howard were listed as living with them.23
     Frances and Paul appeared on the 1950 Federal Census of Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., Ohio, enumerated 3 Apr 1950, reporting they lived in a home that was not on a farm. Their children Paul and David were listed as living with them.24
     Frances died in 1955.14 She was buried in Mount Moriah Cemetery, Withamsville, Clermont Co., Ohio.15
