Narrative:

Elizabeth Mariah Tuck was born on 30 Nov 1837 in Lafayette, Christian Co., KentuckyG,4,5,6She was apparently known to family both as Maria1,12 and as Betty.13,14
     She was probably the female under age 5 listed in the household of her father, Dr. Davis Green Tuck, in the 1840 Federal Census of Christian Co., KentuckyG.15 She appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Christian Co., KentuckyG, in the household of her parents, Dr. Davis Green Tuck and Elizabeth M. Toot.16,17
     Elizabeth married Thomas Herbert Elliott, son of William Henry Elliott and Frances Elizabeth Hill, on 9 Apr 1856 in Christian Co., KentuckyG.7,8,9
     Elizabeth and Thomas appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Hopkinsville, Christian Co., KentuckyG, enumerated 15 Aug 1860, reporting real estate valued at $10,000, personal estate of $10,000 and 11 slaves in 3 slave houses. Their children Quintus and Sarah were listed as living with them.18,19

     Elizabeth was named an heir in the will of her father, dated 25 Mar 1861, to receive $4,000 in addition to the fellow Jordan and woman Betsy and her child and other property she had already received.20
     Elizabeth and Thomas, and their children Quintus, William, Walter, Pauline, and Josephine, appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Hopkinsville, Christian Co., KentuckyG, in the household of her mother, Elizabeth M. Toot.21
     Elizabeth and Thomas appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Lafayette, Christian Co., Kentucky G, enumerated 5 Jun 1880. Their children William, Walter, Pauline, and Josephine were listed as living with them.22
     She and her husband joined with a number of her siblings, their spouses, and the children of their deceased sister Rebecca, in filing on 20 Oct 1883 contesting her sister Sarah's will.23
     She took in and raised her nephew, Dr. Robert Linah Cobb Jr., after the death of his mother, her sister Virginia.24,25
     Elizabeth and Thomas appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Christian Co., Kentucky G, enumerated 25 Jun 1900. Their son Quintus was listed as living with them, as was his wife, Emma Jane Cooper, and Elizabeth's nephew, Robert Linah Cobb.26
     Elizabeth died on 16 Apr 1904 in Christian Co., KentuckyG, at age 66.10,6 She was buried in the Tuck-Elliott Family Cemetery, Lafayette, Christian Co., KentuckyG.11
Research Note, 18 Jul 2001:
Deborah shows Marisa (?) B., born 1838, and Elizabeth, born 1850, married to Elliott. Alethea Jane Macon shows M. B. Tuck (daughter) b. 1838 and "evidently died young since she is not named in her father's will," and also Elizabeth, b. bef. 1861, married to Elliott. I believe they are the same person, with Marisa (?) B. or M. B. coming from the 1850 census, and Elizabeth coming from Davis' will. I expect the B is for Betty, a common nickname for Elizabeth. The 1850 census shows Maria B. (as I read it; the first name is unclear) age 13, but not Elizabeth. In 1860 I find Elizabeth M. with her husband, in 1870 as Betty, and in 1900 I find her as Maria E. I believe that her name was either Elizabeth Maria, or the reverse, and she was called Maria at home to avoid confusion with her mother, also Elizabeth.27,28,29,30,31,32,33
