Narrative:

Anna Marie Schwankler was born on 9 Feb 1892 in Germany.11,12,13,14
Anna immigrated about 1902, but exactly when is not known. No record of her arrival has been found. She apparently joined her mother, Marie Schwenkler, and step-father, Jacob G. Kamm, in Nehalem, Oregon, after her arrival.31,32,33
Several records show her with her step-father's surname, but is not clear to what extent she actually used that name. When applying for her first marriage license she used her mother's maiden name, but the two birth records that have been found for her children show her maiden name as Kamm.2,34,1

Her First Marriage --- Text Stolen from ReigelRidge.com !! ---

Anna married first John Peterson on 15 Mar 1910 in Tillamook Co., Oregon, with Rev. V. E. Hoven officiating, at his residence with his wife and her mother as witnesses.15,16,17
Anna appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Nehalem, Tillamook Co., Oregon, in the household of her parents, Jacob G. Kamm and Marie Schwenkler.35 John appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Nehalem, Tillamook Co., Oregon, in a logging camp with 36 other railroad workers and another foreman.36
John was living in Blackelyville by the time of their son's birth in Sep 1910, according to the child's birth certificate. No other record of a town by that name has been found. It was probably Blakeley, Oregon, which was once a station on the Union Pacific Railroad, where John and his crew may have been working.37,38
No further record of John has been found. There were a number of men in the region named John Peterson, born in Norway around the same time. No records of any of them after 1910 can be identified as the one who married Anna. He may have died, or they may have been divorced.
She was a housemaid at the time of her second marriage.39

A Second Try at Marriage --- Text Stolen from ReigelRidge.com !! ---

Anna married second Charles Davis Slaughter, son of George T. Slaughter and Hettie M. Inman, on 4 Oct 1912 in Portland, Multnomah Co., Oregon, with circuit judge Robert G. Morrow officiating.18,19,20
After their marriage, Anna moved to Scotts Mills, Oregon, where Charles was living.
Anna and Charles were divorced, apparently before 1918.21,22
After her divorce from Charles, Anna moved to Portland, Oregon, where she was living by the time of her third marriage.9,40

A Third Marriage --- Text Stolen from ReigelRidge.com !! ---

Anna married third Forest Emery Reigel, son of Benjamin Franklin Riegel and Esther Matilda Gann, on 25 Apr 1919 in Vancouver, Clark Co., Washington, with W. S. T. Derr, Justice of the Peace, officiating.23,24
Anna and Forest appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of La Center, Clark Co., Washington, enumerated 20 Jan 1920. Her daughter by her previous marriage, Marguerite Elizabeth Slaughter, was listed as living with them.41
Anna and Forest were divorced about 1922.25,26,27
According to the story told in Forest's family, Anna and Forest were divorced after she "ran off with a traveling salesman." However, the man she married next was principally a lumberman although he did for a time later identify himself as a salesman. The story may be totally fanciful, or she may have been involved with someone else before that marriage.42

The Fourth Time Was Charmed --- Text Stolen from ReigelRidge.com !! ---

Anna and her fourth husband had apparently both moved to the Bay Area in California by the time of their marriage. He was living in Oakland, California,10, and she was living in Piedmont.10
Anna married fourth David Lincoln Bond, son of Thomas J. Bond and Martha Jane Grammer, on 29 Oct 1925 in Oakland, Alameda Co., California, with Edward J. Tyrrell, justice of the peace, officiating. He had previously been married to Fannie Francis Brandon.28,29
Anna and David were living at 1915 Castro, Oakland, in 1926.43 They moved to 1421 Market St., Oakland, by 1928.44
Anna and David appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Oakland, Alameda Co., California, at 710½ Apgar St., enumerated 3 Apr 1930, reporting they rented their home. Leslie Peay, a 25-year old painter is listed as a boarder their household.45
Anna and David have not been found in the 1940 census. They had moved to Seattle, Washington by 1941 when they were living in an apartment at 1723 18th Ave.46 They moved to a rural area in Edmonds, north of Seattle, by 1942. They remained in that area until at least 1948.47
Anna and David appeared on the 1950 Federal Census of Snohomish Co., Washington, enumerated 11 May 1950, reporting they lived in a home that was not on a farm.48
Anna and David apparently moved back to the Bay Area of California at some point, because both of them died in Contra Costa Co.
David died on 24 Mar 1953 in Contra Costa Co., California.49
Anna died on 22 May 1971 in Contra Costa Co., California, at age 79.30
