Narrative:

     Richard George Slaughter was born on 10 Jan 1915 in Scotts Mills, Clackamas Co., Oregon.7,8,9
     His parents were divorced before 1918, when Richard was about 3 years old.15,16
     He appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Clackamas Co., Oregon, in the household of his father, Charles Davis Slaughter.4 He appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Marquam, Clackamas Co., Oregon, in the household of his father.17
     Richard appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Baker Co., Oregon, enumerated 4 Apr 1940, in the household of Mary Morfitt, a cattle rancher, and her daughter. He was listed as a ranch hand, and reported he had lived in rural Clackamas Co. in 1935. He reported he had worked 60 hours the last week of March, and had worked 44 weeks the prior year, earning $347.18
     Richard registered for the draft for World War II on 16 Oct 1940, while living at Unity, Baker Co., Oregon, reporting he was employed by for Mrs. Wm. L. Morfett in Unity.1
     Richard was drafted into the U.S. Army, as a private. He entered the service in Portland, Oregon, 7 Apr 1942. He was discharged as a corporal on 7 Oct 1945, at Ft. Lewis, Washington.19,20,21
     Richard has not been found in the 1950 census. Based on his marriage application the following year, it appears he was living in or near Molalla, Clackamas Co., Oregon, quite possibly in a logging camp.
     He was a logger.22
     He was living in Reedsport, Oregon, in 1955.23
     Richard married second Mildred Irene Greenleaf, daughter of Edwin Greenleaf and Rosetta Inskeep, on 26 Nov 1964 in with Rev. Joseph Mann officiating, Molalla, Clackamas Co., Oregon.10
     Richard died on 2 Sep 1979 in Marion Co., Oregon, at age 64.11,12,13 He was buried in Maplewood Pioneer Cemetery, Molalla, Clackamas Co., Oregon.14
