Research Note, 6 Aug 2017:

Of the children of Arnold Jacob and Cynthia Sprigg shown here direct evidence that they are the parents has been found only for Augustus; the court proceedings assigning the administrator of his estate names his father. The conclusion that Elvira, Everard, Adela, and Geraldine were also their children has been reached from indirect evidence. No other Jacob has been found in the Caldwell Co. censuses early enough to have been their father. The number and ages of the children in Arnold's households in the 1810 through 1830 censuses matches perfectly with the ages of each of them. Further, Everand acted as administrator of Augustus's estate, Geraldine's husband was guardian for his children, Geraldine's daughters lived with Elvira after her death, and Cynthia moved in the Elvira after the death of her husband.17,11,12,13,18
