Narrative:

David Flora was born in 1778.2,3
     He was probably one of the three males under age 16 listed in the household of his father, Joseph Flora Jr., in the 1790 Federal Census of Dauphin Co., PennsylvaniaG.6
     His father died on 10 Jan 1795, when David was about 17 years old.7,8
     David married Barbara.4
     David sold his interest in his late father's real estate to his uncle George Toot before 1809.9
     On 4 May 1809, David, as eldest son, petitioned the Dauphin Co. Orphan's Court in Harrisburg to have his father's real estate divided among the surviving children or their representatives. The land was described as about 90 acres in Suatara Twp., bounded by the lands of John Elliott, John and Jacob Bomberger, John Metzgar, and Susquehanna River. The court ordered the sheriff to summon an inquest to divide the land if it could be divided without spoiling the whole, and report back at the next court.9 On 1 Aug 1809 the court approved the report of the inquest on dividing his father's real estate, concluding it could not be divided but should instead be sold for the appraised value. David's share was $457.80.10
     David appears on the tax lists of Lower Paxton Twp.G on his father's estate in 1807 and 1808, then on the same tract as a tenant from 1809 until his death.11
     David died on 15 Oct 1812 at age ~34.5
     David died intestate (without leaving a will). John Bomberger was appointed administrator of his estate. On 8 Mar 1814 he submitted his accounting to the Dauphin Co. Orphan's Court in Harrisburg, reporting a balance of $360.16. The court directed that one-third each be distributed to his widow, his son, and his daughter.12

     Barbara married David Flora, son of Joseph Flora Jr. and Catharine Toot.2
     Her husband died on 15 Oct 1812.3
     The administrator of her late husband's estate filed an accounting on 8 Mar 1814, and the court ordered that Barbara was to receive a one-third share, amounting to $120.53.4
     On 1 Nov 1814 Barbara petitioned the Dauphin Co. Orphan's Court in Harrisburg to appoint David Shaffer as guardian for the persons and estates of her two minor children under age 14, Catherine and George. The court approved the request.5 On the same date she petitioned the court for compensation from the estates of the children for her expense since the death of their father for clothing and maintaining them. The court granted her $40 per year for each child from the time of the father's death until present.6
     On 5 Dec 1815 she petitioned the court again, reporting that David Shaffer, who had previously been appointed guardian for her two children, had died and requesting that a new guardian be appointed. The court appointed her as guardian.7

No futher record of Barbara as been found, either before her marriage or after her 1815 guardianship petition to the court.

Elisha Flora was born in 1780.5,6,7 His given name was recorded in some records as Elijah.10,2
     He was probably one of the three males under age 16 listed in the household of his father, Joseph Flora Jr., in the 1790 Federal Census of Dauphin Co., PennsylvaniaG.11
     His father died on 10 Jan 1795, when Elisha was about 15 years old.12,13
     Elisha moved to Halifax Co., VirginiaG, apparently following his mother's younger brother, Adam Toot, some time before he married there in 1803.
     Elisha married Genette Young on 31 Aug 1803 in Halifax Co., VirginiaG.8,9
     The 1810 census for Halifax Co. and several other counties were burned when the British occupied Washington, but the tax lists survive. Elisha appeared on the 1810 tax list for the Northern District of Halifax Co., reporting one white male over age 16, and one horse or mule. His tax due was 12¢.14
     Elisha appeared on the 1820 Federal Census of Meadsville, Halifax Co., VirginiaG, with a household consisting of one white male under age 10 (unknown), one age 16 to 18 (unknown), and one age 26 to 45 (himself), two white females under age 10 (daughters Elizabeth and Margarette), two age 10 to 16 (Harriett and Susan), two age 16 to 26 (probably Catharine and another), and one over age 26 to 45 (wife Genette). There was also one male slave age 15 to 26.15
     Elisha appeared on the 1830 Federal Census of Halifax Co., VirginiaG, with a household consisting of one male age 5 to 10 (unknown), one age 20 to 30 (unknown), and one age 50 to 60 (himself), one female age 10 to 15 (probably daughter Janett though she was not yet 10), two age 15 to 20 (Harriett and Susan), and one age 40 to 50 (wife Genette Young). The household also included one male slave under age 10 and a female age 10 to 24.16
     Elisha appeared on the 1840 Federal Census of Halifax Co., VirginiaG, with a household consisting of two males age 15 to 20 (unknown), and one age 60 to 70 (himself), two females age 20 to 30 (probably daughters Janett and Susan, though Janett was not yet 20), and one age 50 to 60 (wife Genette). There also two female slaves listed, one age 10 to 24, and the other age 24 to 36.2
     Elisha and Genette appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Pittsylvania Co., VirginiaG, enumerated 16 Dec 1850, Their daughter Janett and her husband were evidently living close by, or perhaps even in the same dwelling, as they were listed in the preceding household in the census record.3
     He was a carpenter.17,18,3
     Elisha apparently died before 1860, as he is not found in the 1860 census, but no death record has been found.

     He was probably the male age 10 to 15 listed in the household of his mother, Catharine Toot, in the 1800 Federal Census of Lower Paxton Twp., Dauphin Co., PennsylvaniaG.16
     George married Rebecca Simpson.7,8,9

     George appeared on the 1840 Federal Census of Air Twp., Bedford Co., PennsylvaniaG, with a household consisting of one male under age 5, (son Elias), two age 5 to 10 (George and John), one age 20 to 30 (Joseph), and one age 50 to 60 (himself), one female age 10 to 15 (daughter Elizabeth), two age 15 to 20 (Margaret and another), one age 20 to 30 (unknown), and one age 40 to 50 (wife Rebecca.)21
     George and Rebecca appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of McConnellsburg, Fulton Co., PennsylvaniaG, enumerated 19 Jul 1850, reporting real estate valued at $500. Their son Elias was listed as living with them, Their son John, listed in the household of Richard Allender, seems to have been living close by as that household is the one preceding theirs in the record.2
     He was a farmer until 1840, and a blacksmith by 1850.22,23,24
     George left a will dated 19 Jan 1858, in which he appointed his sons Joseph and Elias as executors. He directed that after all his debts were paid all his property, real and personal, was to go to his wife for her use during her natural life, including the right to dispose of it. At her death what remained was to be sold, with the proceeds to be divided equally between Joseph and Elias, and one dollar to be paid to each of his other children.25
     George and Rebecca appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of McConnellsburg, Fulton Co., PennsylvaniaG, enumerated 11 Aug 1860, reporting real estate valued at $600 and personal estate of $100. Their children George and Elias were listed as living with them.3
     George died on 25 Jan 1861 at age 76.11 He was buried in Lutheran Cemetery, McConnellsburg, PennsylvaniaG.10
     His estate was probated on 11 Apr 1861 in Fulton Co., PennsylvaniaG.25

It appears from the significant number of unknown children in the 1830 and 1840 censuses that George and Rebecca had many children not listed here. Un-sourced online trees report some of them, and one reports that she had 15 children with 11 living at her death. It lists Susan, Levy, Mary, Charlotte, Lida, Rebecca, and Harriet in addition to those shown here.26

     She was probably one of the four females listed in the household of her father, Joseph Flora Jr., in the 1790 Federal Census of Dauphin Co., PennsylvaniaG.6
     Her father died on 10 Jan 1795, when Elizabeth was about 9 years old.7,8 Peter Shuster, merchant in Middletown, was appointed as her guardian on 17 Jan 1797 for as long as she remained a minor.9
     She was probably one of the two females age 10 to 15 listed in the household of her mother, Catharine Toot, in the 1800 Federal Census of Lower Paxton Twp., Dauphin Co., PennsylvaniaG.10
     At some date before 1809 Elizabeth's interest in her late father's real estate was attached in pursuance of a Domestic Attachment issued in the Court of Common Pleas of Dauphin Co. and sold to Ludwig Wolfley. He in turn sold it to her uncle, George Toot.11
     Elizabeth married Thomas Leak on 1 Apr 1809 in Halifax Co., VirginiaG.5
     On 24 Jul 1809 Elizabeth and her husband issued a power of attorney to her cousin Adam Toot to received property she was entitled to under the distribution of her father's estate.12
Research Note, 18 Jul 2016:
No further verifiable record has been found of Elizabeth or her husband. There is a Thomas Leak in the 1830 census in the of Halifax Co., Virginia. There are two separate Thomas Leaks in the Southern District of that county in 1840. There is a Thomas Leak, tanner age 70 in that district in 1850, with Harriet, age 35, and Eliza A., age 13. No further record of any of them has been found, so it cannot be determinded whether any of these Thomases were Elizabeth's husband.
