Margarette Flora was born about 1812 in VirginiaG.4,5,6
     She was probably one of the two females under age 10 listed in the household of her father, Elisha Flora, in the 1820 Federal Census of Meadsville, Halifax Co., VirginiaG.8
     Margarette married Isaac Stanley on 22 Jan 1835 in Halifax Co., VirginiaG.1,7
     She was probably the female age 20 to 30 listed in the household of her husband, Isaac Stanley, in the 1840 Federal Census of Halifax Co., VirginiaG.9
     Margarette and Isaac appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Halifax Co., VirginiaG, enumerated 15 Sep 1850. Their children Susan, Margarett, George, and Ann were listed as living with them.10 He apparently died before 1860, as he does not appear with the family in 1860, and no further record of him has been found.3,11
     Margarette appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Halifax Courthouse, Halifax Co., VirginiaG, enumerated 2 Jul 1860, reporting no real estate but personal estate of $75. Her daughter Margarett was listed as living with her.3
     Margarette and her daughters worked as seamstresses after the death of her husband.12,13
     Margarette appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Halifax Co., VirginiaG, in the household of her daughter Margarett and her husband, William H. Hamlett.14

     She was probably one of the two females age 10 to 16 listed in the household of her father, Elisha Flora, in the 1820 Federal Census of Meadsville, Halifax Co., VirginiaG.9 She was probably one of the two females age 15 to 20 listed in the household of her father in the 1830 Federal Census of Halifax Co., VirginiaG.10 She was probably one of the two females age 20 to 30 listed in the household of her father in the 1840 Federal Census of Halifax Co., VirginiaG.11
     Susan married first John Adams on 28 Jul 1841 in Halifax Co., VirginiaG.1,6
     Susan and John Adams appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Pittsylvania Co., VirginiaG, enumerated 31 Oct 1850, reporting real estate valued at $2,800. His children Rhody and Sturling were listed as living with them.12
     Susan married second Daniel M. Tinsley on 11 May 1852 in Pittsylvania Co., VirginiaG.3,7
     Susan died on 28 Sep 1857 in Cascade, Pittsylvania Co., VirginiaG, at age ~46.8

Janett F. Flora was born about 1823 in VirginiaG.4,5,6
     She was probably the female age 10 to 15 listed in the household of her father in the 1830 Federal Census of Halifax Co., VirginiaG, though she was not yet 10 years old.8 She was probably one of the two females age 20 to 30 listed in the household of her father in the 1840 Federal Census of Halifax Co., VirginiaG, though she was not yet 20 years old.9
     Janett married Roderick P. Calhoun on 21 Dec 1848 in Pittsylvania Co., VirginiaG.1,7
     Janett and Roderick appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Pittsylvania Co., VirginiaG, enumerated 16 Dec 1850, reporting no real estate but 26 slaves, ranging in age from 2 to 60. Her parents were evidently living close by, or perhaps even in the same dwelling, as they are listed next in the census record.4,10
     Janett and Roderick appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Bachelor's Hall, Pittsylvania Co., VirginiaG, enumerated 18 Jul 1860, reporting personal estate of $900. Their children Annie, Emma, George, and Martha were listed as living with them.11
     Janett and Roderick appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Danville, Pittsylvania Co., VirginiaG, enumerated 23 Aug 1870, reporting no real estate, but $1,000 in personal estate.12
     Janett and Roderick appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Pittsylvania Co., Virginia G, enumerated 7 Jun 1880.13
Research Note, 15 Jun 2016:
No record of Roderick or Janett has been found after 1880. It seems likely they died between 1880 and 1900, but they do not appear in the Pittsylvania Co. death records, which are available for that period. Perhaps they followed their married daughter Annie to Rockingham Co. North Carolina. Death records there for that period have not been found.

     Roderick married Janett F. Flora, daughter of Elisha Flora and Genette Young, on 21 Dec 1848 in Pittsylvania Co., VirginiaG.1,7
     Roderick and Janett appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Pittsylvania Co., VirginiaG, enumerated 16 Dec 1850, reporting no real estate but 26 slaves, ranging in age from 2 to 60.      He was a farmer, though in 1860 his occupation was listed as overseer. He may have been working for someone else at that time.11,12,13,14 In 1880 he reported he was renting his farm for a fixed rental. It contained 235 acres of "improved" land, 225 of woodland, and 50 of other unimproved land. He valued the farm at $6,000, implements at $100, and livestock at $400. In the prior year he had spent $75 on fencing, $116 on fertilizer, and $1,375 on 400 weeks of labor. He valued the prior year's farm production at $2,580. At mid-year he owned one horse and two mules, two milch cows and two other cows, and 29 swine. One calf had been dropped the prior year. He had produced 650 bushels of Indian corn on 38 acres, and 180 of oats on 30 acres, 2 bushels of peas, 3 of beans, 25 of potatoes. He had raised 15,000 lb. of tobacco on 25 acres and 10 bushels of peaches on 10 trees. He had cut 130 cords of wood worth $150.15

No record of Roderick or Janett has been found after 1880. It seems likely they died between 1880 and 1900, but they do not appear in the Pittsylvania Co. death records, which are available for that period. Annie Elizabeth Calhoun was born in Dec 1852 in VirginiaG.4,5,6
     She appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Bachelor's Hall, Pittsylvania Co., VirginiaG, in the household of her parents, Roderick P. Calhoun and Janett F. Flora.11
     Annie married Alvis Watt Daniel, son of Avis Daniel and Jane Z. Watt, on 29 Sep 1869 in Pittsylvania Co., VirginiaG.7,8,9
     Annie and Alvis appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Ruffin, Rockingham Co., North CarolinaG, enumerated 21 Jun 1870, reporting no real estate, but that she had personal property of $435.12
     Annie and Alvis appeared with their children William, Alvis, and Sara on the 1880 Federal Census of Oregonville Twp., now Ruffin Twp., Rockingham Co., North Carolina G in the household of Jane Z. Watt, his mother.13
     Annie and Alvis appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Ruffin, Rockingham Co., North Carolina G, enumerated 19 Jun 1900, reporting that they owned their farm, free of mortgage. Their children Sara, Pattie, Bettie, and Mary were listed as living with them.14
     Annie and Alvis appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Reidsville Twp., Rockingham Co., North Carolina, on North Lawsonville Rd. G, enumerated 7 Jan 1920, reporting that they owned their home, free of mortgage.15
     Her husband died on 19 Jun 1928 in Reidsville, Rockingham Co., North CarolinaG.16
     Annie appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Reidsville, Rockingham Co., North Carolina, G in the household of her son Alvis.17
     Annie died in Nov 1930 at age 77.10 She was buried in Green Hill Cemetry, Greensboro, Guilford Co., North CarolinaG.10
