     Dorothy and Edmund apparently returned to Illinois shortly after that, as their next child was born in Chicago in Aug 1930. They appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Chicago, Cook Co., Illinois, at 1214 Thorndale Ave. G, enumerated 18 Apr 1940, reporting they rented their home, for $55 per month, and that they had lived in the same city in 1935. Their three children were listed as living with them.22
     Her husband died on 15 Jul 1941 in Chicago, Cook Co., IllinoisG.23,24
     Dorothy moved to southern California, where she had children living, but when that was is unknown.
     Dorothy died on 12 Apr 1976 in Santa Barbara Co., CaliforniaG, at age 81.9,10 She was buried in Goleta Cemetery, Goleta, Santa Co., CaliforniaG.11

     She appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Carthage, Hancock Parish, IllinoisG, in the household of her parents, William de Hart and Mary Hillegass.14 She appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Carthage, Hancock Co., Illinois, G in the household of her parents.15
     Ella married Rivers McNeill, son of Thomas Henry McNeill and Rebecca Ann Tuck, on 14 Oct 1897 in Milwaukee, Milwaukee Co., WisconsinG, with Rev. Edward E. Quin, Protestant Episcopal minister, officiating.7,8,9
     Ella and Rivers moved to EvanstonG after their marriage. They appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Evanston, Cook Co., Illinois, at 1312 Maple Ave. G, enumerated 21 Jun 1900, reporting that the family rented its home.      Ella was named sole executrix when the will of her husband was proved 25 Nov 1918. Despite the terms of the will, she posted a bond of $92,000, an unusually high amount, before she was issued Letters Testamentary to execute the estate. The estate was valued at $446,000 according to press reports.22,23
     Ella appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Evanston, Cook Co., Illinois G, at the Evanston Hotel, enumerated 7 Jan 1920. Her late husband's children, Malcolm Rivers McNeill and Dorothy Meshew McNeill, are listed as living with her.24
     Ella applied for a passport 26 Mar 1925, stating that her permanent address was the Hotel Grafton, Washington, District of ColumbiaG. She stated that she intended to travel to France, England, Italy, Switzerland, Holland, and Belgium.16
     Ella died on 7 Oct 1925 in Keokuk, IowaG, at age 60.10,11 She was buried on 10 Oct 1925 in Moss Ridge Cemetery, Carthage, Hancock Co., IllinoisG.12,13
