Andrew Jackson Britton was born on 30 Jan 1836 in Halifax Co., VirginiaG.4,5,6
     He was probably one of the two males under age 5 listed in the household of his father, Isham H. Britton, in the 1840 Federal Census of North District, Halifax Co., VirginiaG.11 He appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Halifax Co., VirginiaG, in the household of his parents, Isham H. Britton and Mary W. Toot.12,13
     His father died about 1852, when Andrew was about 16 years old.14,15
     Andrew married Elizabeth Jane Buster, daughter of John J. Buster and Jane Elizabeth Thomas, and younger sister of the woman his older brother William would marry as his second wife eight years later, on 23 Dec 1858 in Halifax Co., VirginiaG.7,8 He appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Halifax Co., VirginiaG, in the household of his mother, Mary W. Toot, with his wife, Elizabeth Jane Buster. He reported personal estate of $3,000, and ownership of three slaves employed by her mother and one employed by Robert H. Spencer, and himself employed one slave owned by R. Hodges.16,17
     He was a carpenter.18,19
     Andrew died in 1861 at age ~25.9 He was buried in Britton Family Cemetery, Halifax Co., VirginiaG.10

     LucyWhere Lucy lived after the death of her husband is not known. She has not been found in the 1910 census.
