     John appeared on the 1840 Federal Census of Charlotte Co., VirginiaG, with a household consisting of one male under age 5 (unknown), and one age 20 to 30 (himself), two females under age 5 (daughters Frances and Mary), one age 5 to 10 (Elizabeth), and one age 20 to 30 (wife Jane), and one age 70 to 80 (unknown). There were also eight slaves listed.9
     John and Jane appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Charlotte Co., VirginiaG, enumerated 27 Sep 1850. Their children Elizabeth, Frances, Mary, John, William, and Ann were listed as living with them.1
     John and Jane moved to Halifax Co.G before 1860.
     John and Jane appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Halifax Co., VirginiaG, enumerated 21 Aug 1860, reporting no real estate, but personal estate of $6,110. Their children Frances, Mary, John, William, Ann, and Samuel were listed as living with them.10
     He was a planter.11,12
     No further record of either John or Jane has been found. It appears that both died before 1870, though no record of their deaths has been found either.

     She appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Roanoke, Halifax Co., VirginiaG, in the household of her mother, Ellen Pocahontas Morgan. Her father, Henry Harrison Canada, was enumerated the same day, 13 households away. It would appear they are living separately, but it may have been an error by the enumerator.11,12
     She appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Roanoke, Halifax Co., Virginia, G in the household of her parents, Henry Harrison Canada and Ellen Pocahontas Morgan.13
     Bettie married Henry Lacy Britton, son of William Edward Britton and Frances A. Buster, about 1888 in Staunton Hill, Halifax Co., VirginiaG.7,8,9
