Narrative:

     Edgar Lafeyette Morris was born on 25 Mar 1889 in Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne Co., Pennsylvania.8,9,10 He appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Trucksville, Luzerne Co., Pennsylvania, in the household of his parents, William A. Morris and Margaret Jennie Reigle.7
     Edgar moved to Iowa about 1905, in the area were his Shurtz cousins, the children and grandchildren of his great-aunt Sarah had been living for two decades.18,19 He appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Locust Grove Twp., Fremont Co., Iowa, enumerated 16 May 1910, in the household of Albert Coykendall and his wife, listed as a farm laborer.20
     Edgar married Lola L. Knisley, daughter of Horatio M. Knisley and Almira Louisa Shaw, on 25 Mar 1913 in Rock Port, Missouri.11,12,13
     Edgar and Lola appeared on the 1915 State Census of Locust Grove Twp., Fremont Co., Iowa, reporting they rented their home.21,22 They also appeared on the 1915 State Census of Shenandoah, Page Co., Iowa, reporting that they rented their home, and that they were affiliated with the Methodist Church.23,24
     Edgar registered for the draft for World War I on 5 Jun 1917, while living at 1111 W. Sheridan, Shenandoah, Iowa, reporting he was employed as a laborer by Henry Field Seed Co. in Shenandoah.25
     Edgar and Lola appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Shenandoah, Page Co., Iowa, at 807 Thomas Ave., enumerated 2 Jan 1920, reporting that they owned their home, which was mortgaged. Their children Louise and Bertha were listed as living with them.26
     Edgar and Lola appeared on the 1925 State Census of Shenandoah, Page Co., Iowa, at 704 N. Thomas, reporting they were renting their home for $15 per month. Their children Louise, Bertha and Rachel were listed as living with them, They reported they were affiliated with the Methodist Church.5
     Edgar and Lola appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Shenandoah, Page Co., Iowa, at 1203 Thomas Ave., enumerated 7 Apr 1930, reporting that they owned a home valued at $1,000, and owned a radio. Their children Louise, Bertha and Rachel were listed as living with them, as were Roy Spencer, widower of her sister Lulu, their 13-year-old son Melvin, and her brother Jerome.27
     Edgar and Lola appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Shenandoah, Page Co., Iowa, at 909 West Lowell, enumerated 15 Apr 1940, reporting that they owned a home valued at $900. Their children Louise, Bertha and Rachel were listed as living with them, as was Louise's husband, William Edwin Hooton. They reported they had lived in the same town in 1935, except for Louise and her husband, who had lived in Hamburg, Fremont Co.28
     He was a farm laborer in 1910. By 1915 he was a farmer, reporting that he had earned $480 the prior year. By 1920 he was a laborer in a seed house. By 1940 he was a laborer at a cemetery, but reported he had been out of work 15 weeks, and had worked 30 weeks the year before and had earned $500.29,30,31,32,33,34,28
     Edgar served as Grant Twp. constable for fourteen years prior to his retirement.6,35
     He reported in the 1950 census that he was a bartender, racking balls at a pool hall, and he had worked 66 hours the prior week. He also reported working 50 weeks in 1949, earning $1,759 in wages or salary.36
     Edgar and Lola appeared on the 1950 Federal Census of Shenandoah, Page Co., Iowa, at 909 W Lowell Ave., enumerated 4 Apr 1950, reporting they lived in a home that was not on a farm and they lived in the same house the year before.37
     Edgar died on 15 Dec 1969 in Clarinda, Page Co., Iowa, at age 80.11,14,15 He was buried on 17 Dec 1969 in Rose Hill Cemetery, Shenandoah, Page Co., Iowa, next to his wife.16,17
     His wife died in Dec 1987.38,39
