     Rachel Kauffman was born on 17 Jan 1813 in Buffalo Valley, Pennsylvania.4,5,6
     Rachel married John Gann Jr., son of John Gann and Catherine Christ, on 10 Mar 1840 in Lycoming Co., Pennsylvania.7,8,9 She was probably the female age 20 to 30 listed in the household of her husband, John Gann Jr., in the 1840 Federal Census of Limestone Twp., Lycoming Co., Pennsylvania.13
     Rachel and John appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Limestone Twp., Lycoming Co., Pennsylvania, enumerated 14 Aug 1850, reported owning $6,000 in real estate. Their children Adaline, Catharine, John, Amelia, Sarah and Mary, and his children by his prior marriage, William and Alfred, were listed as living with them.14
     Rachel and John appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Oval, Limestone Twp., Lycoming Co., Pennsylvania, enumerated 14 Jun 1860, reporting $9,500 in real estate and $2,000 in personal property. Their children Adaline, Catharine, John, Amelia, Sarah, Mary, Rachael and Esther and his son William were listed as living with them.15
     Rachel was named an heir in the will of John Gann Jr., her husband, dated 28 Apr 1869, to manage all his estate until his youngest child reached age 21, after which the estate was to be divided.16
     Her husband died on 10 Jun 1869.17,18
     Rachel appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Collomsville, Lycoming Co., Pennsylvania, enumerated 29 Jul 1870. Her children Amelia, Sarah, Mary, Rachael and Esther were listed as living with her, Her eldest daughter, Adaline, and her family were apparently living close by as they appear next in the census record.19
     Rachel died on 15 Jan 1871 at age 57.4,10 She was buried in St. Peters Lutheran Church Cemetery, Collomsville, Lycoming Co., Pennsylvania.11,12
