Anne Marie Engel Kuhlmann was born on 13 Jul 1824 in Brockum, Kingdom of Hanover.6,7,8 She was baptized on 18 Jul 1824 in Evangelische Lutherische Kirche, Brockum, Kingdom of Hanover, with Marie Louise Kuhlmann, her maternal grandmother, Catharine Engel Haverkamp, and Margrethe Engel Becker as godparents.1
Anne crossed the Atlantic with an aunt about 1833, and joined her parents, who had settled in Allentown, Pennsylvania.13,14
She moved to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, with her parents after a short time.15
Her mother died in 1844 or 1845, when Anne was about 20 years old.16,17
She moved about 1844 to Wooster, Ohio, with her father, and perhaps with her mother, though it seems more likely she had died in Pennsylvania.18

Anne married Joachim Fernandez on 14 Nov 1846 in Huntington Co., Indiana, with John Attman, justice of the peace, officiating.9,10,11

Anne was named an heir in the will of her husband dated 1 Jul 1892 in Huntington Co., Indiana, to receive all his personal property, and the south half of the farm where they lived.27
Her husband died on 10 Jul 1892 in Huntington, Huntington Co., Indiana.28
After her husband's death, Anne returned to the city, moving to Jacob Neuer's house on South Bryon St. in Jul 1892, where she lived with her sister Elizabeth for a time.29,30,31
She purchased a portion of the lot owned by her brother Nathan where she had a small residence built.4 She appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Huntington, Huntington Co., Indiana, at 48 Williams St., enumerated 2 Jun 1900, reporting she owned her home. She was listed as the next household after her brother Nathan and his family.32
She lived there until the fall of 1907, when she was stricken with partial paralysis. She then moved to the home of her brother Friedrich.4
Anne moved to the German Lutheran Old People's Home, Monroe, Michigan, on 25 May 1908, because of her deteriorating health.4
