Eischeid was born on 8 Jan 1872 in Waterloo, Black Hawk Co., Iowa.7,8,9 He appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Waterloo, Black Hawk Co., Iowa, in the household of his parents, John Eischeid and Margaret Haas.4 He appeared on the 1885 State Census of Vine St., Waterloo, Black Hawk Co., Iowa, in the household of his parents.15
In the 1880 census John was identified as an "idiot," which was defined as "a person the development of whose mental facilities was arrested in infancy or childhood before coming to maturity." In his case the cause was recorded as sickness that occurred at age one. Whatever the issue at that age he clearly went on to have a family and a successful career.16

He reported that he owned a home valued at $4,000. Their children Mark and Sarah were listed as living with them.21,22,23,24

A Substantial Career Path --- Text Stolen from ReigelRidge.com !! ---

He began working for the Omaha & St. Louis Railroad in Shenandoah, Iowa, in 1893, working there as a telegraph operator and as an agent.29,30
In 1902 he became an express agent for Pacific Express Company, maintaining that role until 1905. At the same time he was working as a clerk for Economy Hog & Cattle Powder Company. In 1907 he acquired a financial interest in that company, and was made vice president and secretary of the company. In the 1915 census he reported having earned $2,160 the prior year.29,31,32,33 He was also the president of Iowa Wagon Company and a stockholder in the Commercial National Bank by 1909.29
In the 1920 census his occupation was shown as "none." Apparently he had left his position with the stock feed company, and was focusing on his investments. He was known to lend money to people, secured by property, and acquired a number of properties when the borrowers were unable to repay their loans.34,35 However, on 10 Jul 1923, John was the secretary and an incorporator of two companies whose articles of incorporation were filed in Des Moines. Both two companies intended to publish stock journals. They were Swine World Publishing Co., intending to devote attention to Poland China hogs, and Duroc Publishing, each capitalized at $35,000.36
Strangely, in the 1925 census, his occupation was indicated by checking the box for "laborer unclassified" after the box for "professional services" was checked and crossed out. The meaning of this is unclear. By the 1930 he had returned to the Economy Hog & Cattle Powder Co. as traffic manager but no longer listed as an officer of the company.37,38,39
John died on 4 Jun 1939 in Shenandoah, Page Co., Iowa, at age 67.13 He was buried in Rose Hill Cemetery, Shenandoah, Page Co., Iowa.14
