     Betsey Mariah Stevens was born on 9 Sep 1821 in Castleton, Vermont.6,7,8
     Her mother died on 30 Dec 1830, when Betsey was 9 years old.16
     Betsey married John Henry Remington, son of Zadock Remington Jr. and Sophia Cobb, on 13 Jun 1839 in West Rutland, Vermont, with Russell Fish, justice of the peace, offciating.9,10,11
     Betsey was named an heir in the will of Lemuel Ransom, her maternal grandfather, dated 22 Nov 1842 in Castleton, to receive for her lifetime use of the Pond Farm in Castleton, containing about 96 acres, and a piece of wood land of about 15 acres. At her death the land was to be equally divided between her heirs. The will was probated 5 Apr 1843.17 She and John later lived on the farm, but when they began living there is unknown.18,19
     Betsey and John appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Castleton, Rutland Co., Vermont, enumerated 28 Aug 1850, reporting real estate valued at $4,000. Their children Mary, James, Sophia and Margaret were listed as living with them, as was Sally Jones, age 17, relationship unknown.20
     Betsey died on 22 Mar 1852 in Castleton, Vermont, at age 30.12,13,14 She was buried in Hillside Cemetery, Castleton, Vermont.2,15
