     Ruth U. Garrett was born on 16 Nov 1868 in Kentucky.8,9
     She appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Princeton, Caldwell Co., Kentucky, in the household of her parents, Joseph Henry Garrett and Susan Margaret Hawthorn.15 She appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Princeton, Caldwell Co., Kentucky, in the household of her mother, Susan Margaret Hawthorn.5
     She came to Leavenworth, Kansas about 1884, and became a second grade teacher at the Oak Street School. During the school year she lived with Ellen Mary Cobb and Robert Garrett, her aunt and uncle, at their home on South Broadway.16,17 Ruth appeared on the 1895 State Census of Leavenworth, Leavenworth Co., Kansas, in the household of Robert and Ellen.18
     Ruth married William Francis Cobb, son of Thomas Jefferson Cobb and Almeda Glenn, on 17 Oct 1900 in Princeton, Caldwell Co., Kentucky.10,11,12

     Ruth and William appeared on the 1905 State Census of Leavenworth, Leavenworth Co., Kansas, reporting that the family owned its home. Their son Thomas was listed as living with them, as was her mother, Susan Margaret Hawthorn, and Lucy Sulivan, a 27-year old servant.19
     Ruth and William appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Leavenworth, Leavenworth Co., Kansas, at 230 Second Ave., enumerated 21 Apr 1910, reporting that the family owned its home, which was mortgaged. Their children Thomas and Margaret were listed as living with them, as were his nephew, William Francis Cobb, and Elisabeth Butzina, a 20-year old servant.20
     Ruth and William appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Leavenworth, Leavenworth Co., Kansas, at 230 Second Ave., enumerated 5 Jan 1920, reporting that the family owned its home, free of mortgage. Their children Thomas and Margaret were listed as living with them, as was Sophia Timpe, a 26-year old servant.21
     Ruth and William appeared on the 1925 State Census of Leavenworth, Leavenworth Co., Kansas, at 230 Second Ave., reporting that they owned their home. Their children Thomas and Margaret were listed as living with them.
     Ruth and William appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Leavenworth, Leavenworth Co., Kansas, at 230 Second Ave., enumerated 10 Apr 1930, reporting that the family owned a home valued at $5,000 and had a radio. Their daughter Margaret was listed as living with them.22
     Ruth and William appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Leavenworth, Leavenworth Co., Kansas, at 230 Second Ave., enumerated 25 Apr 1940, reporting they owned a home valued at $9,500 and had lived in the same house in 1935. Their daughter Margaret was listed as living with them.23
     Her husband died on 22 Oct 1940 in Leavenworth, Kansas.24
     Ruth died on 27 Nov 1962 in Leavenworth, Kansas, at age 94.8,13 She was buried in Mount Muncie Cemetery, Lansing, Leavenworth Co., Kansas.14
