     Her father died about 1860, when Virginia would have been 3 years old.11,12 She appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Licking Creek Twp., Fulton Co., PennsylvaniaG, in the household of her mother, Margaret Flora.13 She appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of McConnellsburg, Fulton Co., PennsylvaniaG, with her mother, who as listed as a domestic servant in the household of Thomas Patterson and his family.14
     Virginia married William H. Peffer, son of Benjamin K. Peffer and Anne Fickes, about 1878.7,8,9

George T. Vallance was born on 13 Nov 1844 in Fulton Co., PennsylvaniaG.4,5,6
     He appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Licking Creek Twp., Fulton Co., PennsylvaniaG, in the household of his parents, John A. Vallance and Margaret Flora.12
     His father died about 1860, when George would have been 16 years old.13,14 George appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Licking Creek Twp., Fulton Co., PennsylvaniaG, in the household of his mother.15
     George joined Co. E, 21st Pennsylvania Cavalry on 16 Feb 1864 in Chambersburg, PennsylvaniaG. He mustered in three days later in the same town.16 The 21st Cavalry, also known as the 182nd Pennsylvania Volunteers, was originally organized in Jul and Aug 1863 for six month's service, was re-organized in Jan 1864 as it gathered near Chambersburg, for three year's service. Those not re-enlisting were replaced with new recruits, including George. The regiment was ordered to Washington about the middle of May. On arrival it was dismounted and equipped as infantry. and joined the Army of the Potomac. It arrived at the front 1 Jun 1864 and saw heavy action at Cold Harbor and Petersburg, and other battles. On 4 Dec 1864 Co. E was detailed to the headquarters of Sixth Corps where it remained until the close of its service.17 George mustered out with his company 8 Jul 1865.16
     George moved to Dauphin Co.G after his discharge from military service.18 He appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Lower Paxton Twp., Dauphin Co., PennsylvaniaG, enumerated 7 Jul 1870, in the home of Henry Wertz, a brickmason, and his family.19 He returned to Fulton Co.G shortly afterwards.18
     George married Malinda Wagner, daughter of Abraham Wagner and Catharine Sites, on 4 Jan 1872 in Knobsville, Fulton Co., PennsylvaniaG, with Rev. J. B. Clark officiating.7,8,9
     George and Malinda Wagner moved to Martinsburg, Blair Co., PennsylvaniaG, in Aug 1872.18 They appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of West Martinsburg, Blair Co., Pennsylvania G, enumerated 12 Jun 1880. Their children Clara, Mary, and Helen were listed as living with them.20
     He was shown as a farmer at age 16, evidently helping his mother manage the family farm after the death of his father. He became a plasterer by 1870, retiring by 1910 when he reported his occupation as "invalid."21,22,23,24,25,26
     George applied for a disability pension based on his Civil War service 1 Aug 1891, which was subsequently approved. Pensions under the 27 Jun 1890 act ranged from $6 to $12 per month depending on the level of disability.27
     George and Malinda appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of North Woodbury Twp., Blair Co., Pennsylvania G, enumerated 6 Jun 1900, reporting that they owned their home, free of mortgage.28
     On 23 Feb 1907 George applied for a revised pension under the act passed earlier that month. This act provided for pensions based solely on age, paying $12 per month for veterans age 62 to 69, George's age bracket.18
     George and Malinda appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Martinsburg, Blair Co., Pennsylvania, at Annie St. G, enumerated 26 Apr 1910, reporting that they owned their home, free of mortgage.29
     George died on 25 May 1911 in Martinsburg, Blair Co., PennsylvaniaG, at age 66.10,11 He was buried on 28 May 1911 in Fairview CemeteryG.3
