Harry William Fenker was born on 10 Dec 1892 in Norwood, OhioG.4,5,6
     He appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Pleasant Ridge, Hamilton Co., Ohio, G in the household of his parents, Friedrick A. Fenker and Friederike Luise Wilhelmine Schlüter.21
     His mother died in 1908, when Harry was about 16 Years old.22,23,24
     He appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Pleasant Ridge, Hamilton Co., Ohio, G in the household of his father, Friedrick A. Fenker.25
     Harry married first Clara Marie Ketterer, daughter of Peter Joseph Ketterer and Anna M. Schmidt, on 1 Jan 1916 in Newport, Campbell Co., KentuckyG, with Thomas Gerching, justice of the peace, officiating.7,8
     He was a driver at the time of his first marriage.26 He registered for the draft for World War I on 5 Jun 1917, while living at 601 Fairfield Ave., Campbell Co., KentuckyG, reporting he was employed as a chauffeur for Kroger Grocery and Bakery Co. in Cincinnati.2
     Harry and Clara appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Bellevue, Campbell Co., Kentucky, at 127 Retreat St. G, enumerated 7 Jan 1920, reporting that the family rented its home. Their daughter Edith and her daughter by her previous marriage, Orma, were listed as living with them.27
     He was a driver for a milk company by 1920.28,29

     Harry moved to California sometime between 1920 and 1927, when he was shown as a resident of Los Angeles when he applied for a license for his second marriage.30
     Harry and Clara were apparently divorced before 1927, when he remarried, though no record of their divorce has been found.9,10
     Harry married second Myrtle Agnes Harden, daughter of John W. Harden and Elizabeth Baughn, on 28 Dec 1927 in Stockton, San Joaquin Co., CaliforniaG, with Albert C. Parker, justice of the peace, officiating.11,12,13
     Harry and Myrtle lived briefly in Pittsburg, Contra Costa Co., CaliforniaG, after their marriage, before returning to Los Angeles.31 They appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Los Angeles, Los Angeles Co., California, at 181 West 36 Place G, enumerated 3 Apr 1930, reporting they rented their home, for $40 per month, and did not own a radio.32
     Harry and Myrtle appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Los Angeles, Los Angeles Co., California, at 147 1/2 W 38 St. G, enumerated 2 Apr 1940, reporting they rented their home, for $25.00 per month, and that they had lived in the same city in 1935.33
     By 1938 he was listed in the city directory as a foreman for Borden Dairy Delivery Co., But he was listed in the 1940 census as a driver for a milk company, reporting he had worked 54 hours the last week of March, and 52 weeks the prior year, earning $2,200. He report in the 1950 census he had worked 40 hours the prior week.34,35,36,37
     Harry registered for the draft for World War II on 26 Apr 1942, while living at 1160 W. Silver Lake Dr., Los Angeles, CaliforniaG, reporting he was employed by Golden State Creamery in Los Angeles.38
     His second wife died on 28 Jul 1945 in Jackson Co., OregonG.39
      He changed the spelling of his surname to Finker, gradually, it seems. That spelling appears in the 1930 census, but not in the city directory until 1938, and the original spelling appears in the 1940 census and his World War II draft card. By the time of his death he seems to have made the new spelling permanent. Both his death certificate and the tombstone for him and his third wife used it.32,40,33,38,17,41
     Harry appeared on the 1950 Federal Census of Los Angeles, Los Angeles Co., California, G in the household of his daughter Edith and her husband, William Richard Sompel.42

     Harry married third Mable Clarice Price, daughter of Edward William Price and Maggie Elizabeth Smith, before 1954.14,15,16
     Harry and Mable lived Los Angeles for a time after their marriage, living at 4270 Kansas Ave. G about 1954. Whether she came to California because he lived there, or came earlier and met him there, is unknown.14
     Harry and Mable moved to VirginiaG, her home state, at some point, but when is unknown. No record has been found of them there before their deaths. But it seems likely they moved in the late 1950's, as they do not appear in the California voter registration lists after 1956.43
     Harry's death certificate shows his occupation as retired dairy farmer. No record of where he was farming has been found, but it seems likely after they moved to Virginia.37
     Harry died on 22 Aug 1967 in Luray, Page Co., VirginiaG, at age 74.17,18 He was buried in Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Luray, Page Co., VirginiaG.19,20

Arthur Gabriel was born on 27 Sep 1890 in Cincinnati, OhioG.4,5,6,7
     He appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., Ohio, G in the household of his parents, Herman Gabriel and Anna Mathies.15 He appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., Ohio, G in the household of his parents.16
     He was a grocery wagon driver by age 17.17 He registered for the draft for World War I on 5 Jun 1917, while living at 4306-34th St., Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., OhioG, reporting he was employed as a teamster by John S. Grimes, in Cincinnati. He claimed exemption because he was supporting his widowed mother.3
      He enlisted in the U.S. Army 19 Sep 1917 in Cincinnati. He was assigned to Headquarters Company, 330th Infantry. He was transferred to Co. F, 308th Ammunition Train 23 Jan 1918. On 28 Jul 1918 he was transferred to Co. E, 61th Infantry, as a mechanic. His unit was part of the American Expeditionary Forces 12 June 1918 to 19 July 1919. He was discharged as a private 28 Jul 1918.18,19,20
     Arthur appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., Ohio, at 4301 33 St. G, enumerated 5 Jan 1920, in the household of his older sister Ada, and her husband Edward Brendt, with their two daughters.21
     He was a confectionary salesman by 1920, and a bartender when he married, later that year.22,23
     Arthur married Helen Anna Fenker, daughter of Friedrich August Fenker and Friederike Luise Wilhelmine Schlüter, on 15 Dec 1920 in Hamilton Co., OhioG, with Rev. Fred Hohmann offciating.8,9
     It appears that Arthur, and Helen if she was not his birth mother, adopted Lawrence John Kreidler after they married. He is shown with surname Gabriel on all later records found and shown as their son in all records that identify his parents.24,25,26
     Arthur and Helen appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., Ohio, at 3298 Harvest Ave. G, enumerated 9 Apr 1930, reporting that the family rented its home for $25 monthly, and owned a radio. Their children Lawrence, Arthur, and Roy were listed as living with them, as well as her father. Her sister Elsie and her family had been living in the house next door since before 1920.27
     He was a truck driver for an ice delivery business, most likely his father-in-law's ice business, in 1930.28
     Arthur and Helen appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., Ohio, at 3298 Harvest G, enumerated 8 Apr 1940, reporting they owned a home valued at $6,500, and that they had lived in the same house in 1935. Their children Lawrence, Arthur, and Roy were listed as living with them.29
     In 1940 Arthur reported he had been out of work 104 weeks, but was working as a laborer in road construction for the Works Progress Administration. He reported he had worked 30 weeks the prior year, earning $300. Helen was working as a saleslady in a variety store, reporting she had worked 48 hours the last week of March, and 52 weeks the prior year, earning $624.30 Arthur registered for the draft for World War II on 26 Apr 1942, while living at 3298 Harvest Ave., Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., OhioG, reporting he was out of work.31
      Helen was granted a divorce from Arthur in Hamilton Co. in Apr 1944, on grounds of neglect.10,11
     He apparently later returned to bartending, as that was the occupation listed on his death certificate.32
     He was admitted about 20 Nov 1952 to the Mt. Vernon State Hospital, Monroe Twp., Knox Co., OhioG, for treatment of tuberculous.33
     Arthur died on 3 Jun 1955 in Monroe Twp., Knox Co., OhioG, at age 64.12 He was buried on 6 Jun 1966 in Mound View Cemetery, Mt. Vernon, OhioG.13,14

The birth parents of Lawrence are unknown. Every record found after 1920 shows him as the son of Helen and Arthur, with the surname Gabriel. But he was born three years before their marriage, and in the 1920 census he is listed as Lawrence Kreidler, shown as the grandson of Helen's father, while she is listed as single. No record has been found of her having an earlier marriage.
