Ernst Hillebrandt Fenker was born on 9 Oct 1887 in Covington, KentuckyG.4,5,6
     He moved to Michigan with his parents by 1894.14 He appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Oxford Twp, Oakland Co., Michigan, G in the household of his parents, Albert August Fenker and Mary Grant Hillebrandt.15
     He moved to Detroit with his parents by 1903.16,17
     He was a clerk for The Kennedy Optical Co. in DetroitG by 1905.18
     He moved to Ohio, with his parents by 1906.19,20,21 He appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Columbus, Franklin Co., Ohio, G in the household of his parents, Albert August Fenker and Mary Grant Hillebrandt.22
     He worked as a clerk after the family moved to Columbus. By 1910 he was working as a commercial traveler, or traveling salesman, which was to become his career.23,24
     Ernst moved to Detroit by 1913, when he was living at 290 Warren Ave. W., Detroit. G He was working as a salesman there.25,26
     Ernst married May Elise Schauroth, daughter of Clemens Schauroth and Clara M. Watson, on 14 Jun 1913 in Detroit, MichiganG, with Rev. J. M. Barkey officating.7,8,9
     Ernst registered for the draft for World War I on 5 Jun 1917, while living at 115 Gladtone, Detroit, Wayne Co., MichiganG, reporting he was employed as a salesman for A. R. Rutledge, a building supply firm.27
     Ernst and May appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Detroit, Wayne Co., Michigan, at 73 Seebaldt Ave. G, enumerated 8 Jan 1920, reporting they rented their home. William Hoppe, a 27-year-old auditor was listed as a roomer in their household.28
     He continued to work as a salesman in the building supply industry the rest of his career. He reported in 1940 he had worked 40 hours the last week of March, and 50 weeks the prior year, earning $3,000.29,30,31,32
     Ernst and May appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Orchard Lake, Oakland Co., Michigan G, enumerated 23 Apr 1930, reporting they owned a home valued at $35,000, and owned a radio. His cousin Grafton Thrasher Fenker and his wife, Edith L. Marshall, were listed as living with them, as was Agnes Swabona, a maid.33
     Ernst and May appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Orchard Lake, Oakland Co., Michigan, at 4901 Old Orchard Trail G, enumerated 18 Apr 1940, reporting they owned a home valued at $15,000, and that they had lived in the same house in 1935. His cousin Grafton and his wife Edith were listed as living with them, as were Norman and Myrtle Lenox, a gardener and housekeeper.34
     Ernst registered for the draft for World War II on 26 Apr 1942, while living at 4800 Willow Lane, West Bloomfield Twp., Oakland Co., MichiganG, reporting he was employed by Parker Bros. in Detroit.3
     Ernst and May moved to Florida about 1960.35
     Ernst died on 25 Jul 1969 in St. Petersburg, Pinellas Co., FloridaG, at age 81.10,11,12 He was cremated and his remains were interred at the White Chapel Memorial Park Cemetery, Troy, Oakland Co., MichiganG.13

Dr. William Tarvin Fenker was born on 3 Dec 1889 in Covington, KentuckyG.4,5,6
     He moved to Michigan with his parents by 1894.14 He appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Oxford Twp, Oakland Co., Michigan, G in the household of his parents, Albert August Fenker and Mary Grant Hillebrandt.15
     He moved to Detroit with his parents by 1903.16,17 He moved to Columbus, Ohio, with his parents by 1906.18,19,20 He appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Columbus, Franklin Co., Ohio, G in the household of his parents.21
     William earned his medical degree at Starling Ohio Medical College, Columbus, OhioG, in 1914.22,23
     William married Mary Lillie Cheetham, daughter of John Cheetham and Eve Rushton, on 5 May 1917 in Monroe Co., MichiganG, with Rev. F. A. Lendrum, Methodist Episcopal minister, officiating.7,8,9

     William entered the Army Medical Corps as a First Lieutenant 29 May 1917. He was assigned to the American Expeditionary Forces 22 July 1917 to 6 Mar 1919, serving in Washington D.C., Belgium, and France, including the Somme Offensive. He was wounded in action 31 Mar 1918. He was severely gassed 21 Mar 1819 and hospitalized eight weeks in London, then saw service in hospitals near London until Feb 1919 when he sailed for home. He was promoted to Captain 17 Feb 1919 but the promotion was not announced until some three months after the discharge.24,25,26
      He received an honorable discharge 17 Feb 1919, as 1st Lieutenant.27,28,29
      His discharge did not reflect his advancement to Captain which was not announced until some three months after the discharge. The loss of his son in World War II prompted him to recall the oversight and he sought a correction. The Commodore of the American Legion in Sandusky wrote to the Adjutant General in 1947, and correspondence continued for many years. Following the assistance of Congressman A. D. Baumhart, Jr., a correction was finally issued 19 Oct 1960.30,31 On 6 Sep 1961 he was awarded the Purple Heart at the American Legion in Sandusky for his injuries in 1918.32

     William and Mary appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Sandusky, Erie Co., Ohio, at 1226 Wayne St. G, enumerated 15 Apr 1930, reporting that the family owned a home worth $30,000, and had a radio. Their children William, Ruth, and Mary were listed as living with them.33
     William and Mary appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Sandusky, Erie Co., Ohio, at 1226 Wayne St. G, enumerated 16 Apr 1940, reporting they owned a home valued at $20,000, and that they had lived in the same house in 1935. Their children William, Ruth, and Mary were listed as living with them.34
     He was a physician and surgeon with his own practice, reporting in 1940 he had worked 52 weeks the prior year in 408 West Monroe St., Sandusky, Erie Co., OhioG.35,36,37,38 He registered for the draft for World War II on 25 Apr 1942, while living at 1226 Wayne St., Sandusky, Erie Co., OhioG, reporting he was self-employed.1
     His wife died on 8 Oct 1951 in Sandusky, Erie Co., OhioG.39,40
     William died on 17 Dec 1973 in Sandusky, Erie Co., OhioG, at age 84.10,11,12 He was buried on 19 Dec 1973 in Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky, OhioG.13

     She appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Oxford Twp, Oakland Co., Michigan, G in the household of her parents, Albert August Fenker and Mary Grant Hillebrandt.16
     She moved to Detroit with her parents by 1903.17,18 She moved to Columbus, Ohio, with her parents by 1906.19,20,21 She appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Columbus, Franklin Co., Ohio, G in the household of her parents.22
     Ruth married Edward Pryce Fischer, son of Christian George Frederick Fischer and Laura Jane Pryce, on 15 Dec 1915 in Franklin Co., OhioG, with Rev. David F. Bent officiating.8,9,10
     Ruth and Edward moved to Scioto Co.G by 1920. They appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Portsmouth, Scioto Co., Ohio, at 1514 Fourth St. G, enumerated 7 Jan 1920. Their daughter Ruth was listed as living with them.23

Edward Pryce Fischer was born on 10 Jul 1892 in Columbus, OhioG.4,5,6
     He appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Columbus, Franklin Co., Ohio, G in the household of his parents, Christian George Frederick Fischer and Laura Jane Pryce.19 He appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Columbus, Franklin Co., Ohio, G in the household of his parents.20
     Edward married first Ruth Fenker, daughter of Albert August Fenker and Mary Grant Hillebrandt, on 15 Dec 1915 in Franklin Co., OhioG, with Rev. David F. Bent officiating.7,8,9
     Edward registered for the draft for World War I on 5 Jun 1917, while living at 1520 Bryden Rd, Columbus, Franklin Co., OhioG, reporting he was employed as assistant employment and welfare manager for Selby Shoe Co. in Portsmouth.21 He was a supervisor in a shoe factory in 1920.22
     Edward and Ruth moved to Scioto Co.G by 1920. They appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Portsmouth, Scioto Co., Ohio, at 1514 Fourth St. G, enumerated 7 Jan 1920. Their daughter Ruth was listed as living with them.23
     Edward and Ruth moved to CincinnatiG by 1930. They appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., Ohio, at 883 Glenwood Ave. G, enumerated 11 Apr 1930, reporting they rented their home, for $70 per month, and owned a radio. Their daughter Ruth was listed as living with them.24
     By 1930 he was business manager at a Jewish hospital.25
     He appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Columbus, Franklin Co., Ohio, G in the household of his parents, reporting he had lived in Cincinnati in 1935.26 In 1940 he reported his occupation as an executive, reporting he had been out of work 6 weeks, and had worked 36 weeks the prior year, earning $300.27
      Ruth was granted a divorce from Edward in Hamilton Co.G, 16 Sep 1940, on grounds of willful absense.10,11
     Edward married second Reva Frances Whittington, daughter of Harry Delbert Whittington and Laura Belle Hickman, on 23 Aug 1941 in Greene Co., OhioG, with Rev. S. A. Beall, minister of Trinity Methodist Church, officiating.12,13
     He was personnel director for Egry Register Co. by 1941.12 He registered for the draft for World War II on 27 Apr 1942, while living at 69 Waverly Ave., Dayton, Montgomery Co., OhioG, reporting he was employed by Egry Register Co., in Dayton.28
     Edward and Reva were divorced before 1950 when he re-married.14,15
     Edward married third Vergie E. Spangler, daughter of George Spangler and Elmira Moll, on 8 Jul 1950 in Franklin Co., OhioG, with Rev. Herbert M. Frazer officiating.16
     Edward died on 20 Oct 1954 at age 62.17 He was buried in Union Cemetery, Columbus, Franklin Co., OhioG.18
