Edna Catherine Glabe was born on 25 Aug 1888 in Farmingdale, IllinoisG.4,5,6
     She moved to Peoria, IllinoisG, with her parents about 1891.14,15 She appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Peoria Twp., Peoria Co., Illinois G, in the household of her parents.16
     Edna married Albert Allen Brown, son of James S. Brown and Anna M. Humphrey, about 1906.7,8,9
     Edna and Albert appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Peoria, Peoria Co., Illinois, at 601 Montana St. G, enumerated 27 Apr 1910, reporting they rented their home. Their children Marguerite and Evelyn were listed as living with them.17
     Edna and Albert moved to Los Angeles Co., California about 1913, settling initially in Springdale, near Compton. His parents moved here about the same time.
     Edna and Albert appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Compton, Los Angeles Co., California G, on Springdale Ave., enumerated 15 Jan 1920, reporting they owned the home, which was mortgaged. Their children Marguerite, Evelyn, Stanley, Kenneth, and Albert and a son believed to be still living were listed as living with them. His parents are listed immediately preceding, indicating they were living in the same house or close by.18 They also appeared on the same census of Compton, on Ruby St. G, enumerated 28 Jan 1920. The same children were listed as living with them and again they reported they owned their home. The dual listings suggest they had been living with his parents and were moving into a separate home.19
     Edna and Albert appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Norwalk, Los Angeles Co., California G, on Washburn Newton Rd, enumerated 16 Apr 1930, reporting they were renting their home. Their children Evelyn, Stanley, Kenneth, Albert, and Howard and a son believed to be still living were listed as living with them, as was their eldest daughter Marguerite's two-year old daughter.20
     Edna and Albert appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Los Angeles, Los Angeles Co., California G, at 463 W. 37th Pl, enumerated 12 Apr 1940. They reported that they were renting their home for $30 per month and had lived in the same city in 1935. Their children Stanley, Kenneth, Albert, Howard, and Patricia and a son believed to be still living were listed as living with them.21
     Edna died on 11 May 1943 in Los Angeles, CaliforniaG, at age 54.10,11,12 She was buried on 13 May 1943 in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Glendale, Los Angeles Co., CaliforniaG, next to her husband.13

     She moved to ChicagoG about 1913 with her parents.14 She appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Chicago, Cook Co., Illinois, at 11045 Esmond St. G in the household of her parents, Jacob Glabe and Emma Amelia Goller, with her occupation reported as a teacher in the public schools.15 She also appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Barrington, Cook Co., Illinois, on Station St. G, enumerated 3 Jan 1920, living as a boarder with George Deitrick and his wife Malinda, and reporting her occupation as school teacher.16
     Ethel married John Roger Wiest Jr., son of Johann Wiest and Elizabeth Schmidt, on 26 Oct 1921 in Chicago, Cook Co., IllinoisG, with Rev. Arthur D. Klontz officiating.7,8,9

      By 1945 John, Ethel, their son Rodger, and her sister Corrine had moved to a property with a roomy home east of town, facing Bidwell Park.24,25
     Ethel and John appeared on the 1950 Federal Census of Chico, Butte Co., California, on Manzanita Ave. G, enumerated 29 Apr 1950, reporting they lived on a farm and they lived in the same house the year before. Their son Roger was listed as living with them, as was her sister Corrine.26
     By 1955 Ethel, John and Corrine had moved to a small house at 1904 Palm Ave. G.27
     By 1958 Ethel, John, and apparently Corrine, had moved to Redding, California, where he was the manager of the Commercial Motel, at 2035 Market.G They were listed as living at the same address, presumably in a manager's apartment in the building.28,29,30 A year later John was managing the Town House Lodge, at 3915 S. Market,G and they were living there.31
     Her husband died on 29 May 1982 in Redding, Shasta Co., CaliforniaG.32,33,34

     Anna and Johann arrived in New York, New YorkG, on 3 May 1848, with their son Heinrich, aboard the Lesmonn, sailing as steerage class (below deck) passengers from the port of Bremen.13,14
     A short time later they arrived in Tazewell Co., Illinois, and bought a small farm in Washington Twp., in an area called Farmdale. Many other families from the Germanic states also settled in the same area, many of them marrying into the Glabe family.15,16
      She was known as Katherine after she immigrated to Illinois.17,18,19
     Katherine and Jacob appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Tazewell Co., IllinoisG, enumerated 30 Aug 1850, reporting real estate valued at $500. Their children Heinrich and John were listed as living with them.20
     Katherine and Jacob appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Washington Twp., Tazewell Co., IllinoisG, enumerated 11 Jun 1860, reporting real estate valued at $1500 and personal estate of $150. Their children Heinrich, John, Caroline, Jacob, Levi, and Sebastian were listed as living with them.21
