He was discharged 17 Apr 1919 as a private, Co. 12, 161st depot brigade.^19,20 Depot brigades received and organized recruits, provided them with uniforms, equipment and initial military training, and then sent them to France to fight on the front lines. The depot brigades also received soldiers returning home at the end of the war and completed their out processing and discharges. He also reported working 12 weeks in 1949, earning $500 in wages or salary, and $120 in interest, dividends, etc.²⁶
