     Her father died on 11 Apr 1850, when Mary was 5 years old.13,14 She appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Caldwell Co., KentuckyG, in the household of her mother, Caroline Hanson Cresap.15,16
     Mary appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Eddyville, Lyon Co., KentuckyG, in the household of her sister, Eudorah and her husband, Matthew Martin Lyon.17,18
     Mary married William Walker Sublett, son of William Edzard Sublett and Mary Elizabeth Cook, on 28 Mar 1866.7,8,9
     Mary and William appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Montgomery, Montgomery Co, AlabamaG, enumerated 7 Jul 1870, reporting personal estate of $350. Their children Walter and Mary were listed as living with them.19
     Mary and William appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Montgomery, Montgomery Co, Alabama G, enumerated 4 Jun 1880. Their children Walter, Mary, Caroline, Willena, and Sarah were listed as living with them, as was Julia McAlkin, a 35-years old mulatto, who was most likely a servant.20
     Her husband died on 30 Oct 1892.21,22,23
     After the death of her husband, Mary's sister Victoria, also recently widowed, lived with her until Victoria committed suicide in the house in 1895. Unwilling to speak of the event, the formerly close relationship between the Machen and Sublette families was suspended for some 80 years before descendants re-established connections.24
     After her sister's death, Mary operated a boarding house in her red brick Queen Anne style home to keep income coming in. She was a genteel Southern lady trying to keep things going.25,26

Her children Sarah and James were listed as living with her, as were her mother, her married daughter Mary and her children, William, Cecil, and Walter Haun.27

     Georgina married William Wallace Smith, son of Strother J Smith and Susannah Clark, on 29 Jan 1850 in Caldwell Co., KentuckyG.7,8,9
     Georgina appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Caldwell Co., KentuckyG, in the household of her newly widowed mother. She is listed as George Anne S. Mims, a name found no where else. Why she is listed, eight months after her marriage, by her maiden name and without her husband is unknown. He is not listed with his parents in the 1850 census and cannot be found elsewhere. Perhaps he was actually living in the household and was omitted from the record in error.12,13
     Georgina and William appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Eddyville, Lyon Co., KentuckyG, enumerated 11 Aug 1860, reporting real estate of $100 and personal estate of $300. Hanson R. Mims was born on 21 Aug 1836 in Eddyville, Caldwell Co., KentuckyG.4,5,6 He was probably the male under age 5 listed in the household of his father, John H. Mims, in the 1840 Federal Census of Caldwell Co., KentuckyG.8
     His father died on 11 Apr 1850, when Hanson was 13 years old.9,10
     He appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Caldwell Co., KentuckyG, in the household of his mother, Caroline Hanson Cresap.3,11
     According to family lore, Hanson, regarded as the "black sheep" of the family, spent much of the $50,000 proceeds from his mother's sale of his father's property, then took the rest to New Orleans where he stayed with his mother's brother, Hanson Briscoe Cresap.12
     Hanson died on 13 Jun 1859 in New Orleans, LouisianaG, at age 22, committing suicide at the home of his uncle, Hanson Briscoe Cresap, after his wounds from a duel became infected.4,7
