Alma Cecelia Tenold was born on 3 Sep 1897 in Adams, Minnesota.8,9,10She appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Adams Twp., Minnesota in the household of her parents, Nils G. Tenold and Marie O. Kuntson.4
She moved to Washington with her parents before 1910. She appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of La Center, Clark Co., Washington, in the household of her parents.19
Alma married first Edward Henry Gapsch, son of Robert Edward Gapsch and Matilda Henriksdotter, on 24 Dec 1916 in Clark Co., Washington.11,12,13
Alma and Henry appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of La Center, Clark Co., Washington, enumerated 7 Jan 1920. Their daughter Dorine was listed as living with them.20
Alma and Henry were divorced on 27 Apr 1925 in Vancouver, Washington. He received an interlocutory degree on the ground of desertion.14
Alma married second Edwin Gundar Erstad, son of Ole Eric Erstad and Marie S. Rudy, on 20 Jun 1926 in Vancouver, Clark Co., Washington, with James O Blair, Justice of the Peace, officiating.15,16,17,18
Edwin and Alma were welcomed back from their honeymoon by a noisy charivari at their home new Woodland, Washington, on 30 Jun 1926. The welcome included shots fired into the air, one of which struck his brother Oscar in the ankle. He was taken to a Portland hospital. It was not learned who fired the shot.21
Alma and Edwin appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Woodland, Cowlitz Co., Washington, enumerated 4 Apr 1930, reporting that the family rented it's home, for $12 per month, and did not own a radio. Their children Edna and Flora were listed as living with them, as was her daughter by her prior marriage, Dorine Katherine Gapsch.22
Alma and Edwin appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Woodland, Cowlitz Co., Washington, enumerated 11 Apr 1940, reporting they owned a home valued at $2,000, and had lived in the same house in 1935. Their children Edna, Flora and Edwin were listed as living with them, as were Marie O. Kuntson, her mother, and Michael Knutson, age 81, her mother's brother.23
Her husband died on 9 Oct 1947 in Vancouver, Clark Co., Washington.24
Alma died on 6 Nov 1951 in Vancouver, Clark Co., Washington, at age 54.6
