Narrative:

Christiana Riegel was born on 12 Oct 1847 in Pennsylvania.8,9,10 She was christened on 22 Mar 1848 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Milton, Northumberland Co., Pennsylvania.16
She appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Turbut Twp., Northumberland Co., Pennsylvania, in the household of her parents, Jacob K. Riegel and Christiana Ohl.17
Her father died on 13 Sep 1857, when Christiana was 9 years old.18
Christiana appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Milton, Northumberland Co., Pennsylvania, in the household of John McCormick, a prosperous farmer and his three children, who were neighbors of her family. Also in the household were a farm hand and a domestic servant. Her sister Christiana was apparently living close by, as the family she was living wtih was listed preceding.19
Christiana appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Watsontown, Delaware Twp., Northumberland Co., Pennsylvania, in the household of George Seibert, a farmer, his wife Amelia, and their four children, ages eight to five. She was working there as a housekeeper.20
Christiana appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Chillisquaque Twp., Northumberland Co., Pennsylvania, enumerated 21 Jun 1880, in the household of G. W. Hinebauch, a farmer, and his three children, ages 11 to five years. She was working there as a domestic servant.21
Christiana advanced funds to her mother for construction of a kitchen addition to her home in the fall of 1881. Evidently the amount was not repaid, as she later filed a claim against her mother's estate to recover the amount.22
Christiana married Franklin L. Snyder about 1882.11,12
Christiana was named an heir in the will of Christiana Ohl, her mother, dated 19 May 1891, to receive an equal share with all her siblings.23 At the meeting of creditors against her mother's estate held 23 Jun 1894, Christiana presented two claims. The first was for $30 for the housekeeping and nursing for her mother. The second was for the funds advanced to her mother for construction of her kitchen addition in 1881, evidenced by a note for $54.04 dated 21 Oct 1889. Both, including interest on the note, were approved, for a total of $99.15. But since there were insufficient funds to pay all claims, she received only 77.77% of the amount. There was nothing left to distribute to the heirs.22
Christiana and Franklin moved to Shenandoah, Iowa, where her older sister, Sarah, had lived for many years. They apparently moved there after 1895, as they do not appear in the state census that year. They appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Shenandoah, Page Co., Iowa, enumerated 8 Jun 1900, reporting that they were renting their home.24
They back moved to Pennsylvania before 1905, as they do not appear in the 1905 Iowa state census. Christiana and Franklin appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of West Chillisquaque Twp., Northumberland Co., Pennsylvania, enumerated 27 Apr 1910, reporting that they were renting their home.25
Christiana died on 12 Jan 1919 in East Chillisquaque Twp., Northumberland Co., Pennsylvania, at age 71.13,14 She was buried on 16 Jan 1919 in Montandon Cemetery.15
