     Paul Edgar Gooley was born on 13 Feb 1898 in South Bend, Indiana.10,11,12
     He appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Portage, St Joseph Co., Indiana, in the household of his parents, George L. Gooley and Dorothy R. Hoke.4 He appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of River Park, Saint Joseph Co., Indiana, in the household of his parents.4
     Paul registered for the draft for World War I on 12 Sep 1918, while living at 2622 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend, St Joseph Co., Indiana, reporting he was employed as a payroll clerk at Singer Manufacturing Co. in South Bend.3 He was a clerk at a furniture store in 1920.19
     He appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of South Bend, St Joseph Co., Indiana, in the household of his parents.20
     Paul married Gertrude H. Baumgartner, daughter of John H. Baumgartner and Emma H. Kuhlman, on 11 Aug 1921 in St Joseph Co., Indiana, with John F. De Groote offciating.13,14,15
