     She moved to St Joseph Co. with her parents in 1901.19,20 She appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of South Bend, Saint Joseph Co., Indiana, in the household of her parents.5 She appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of South Bend, St Joseph Co., Indiana, in the household of her parents.6
     She was a kindergarten teacher before her marriage.21
     Gertrude married Paul Edgar Gooley, son of George L. Gooley and Dorothy R. Hoke, on 11 Aug 1921 in St Joseph Co., Indiana, with John F. De Groote offciating.14,15,16
     Gertrude and Paul appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of South Bend, St Joseph Co., Indiana, at 2906 Mishawaka Ave., enumerated 3 May 1930, reporting they owned a home valued at $8,000, and did not own a radio. Their children James, Dorothy and William were listed as living with them.18
