     Ira Counterman Shore was born on 21 Apr 1891 in Celina, Mercer Co., Ohio.9,10,11
     He appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Goshen Twp., Clermont Co., Ohio, in the household of his parents, Alonzo F. Shore and Alice Applegate.4 He appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Goshen Twp., Clermont Co., Ohio, in the household of his parents.5
     Ira married Elsie C. Fenker, daughter of Friedrich August Fenker and Friederike Luise Wilhelmine Schlüter, on 16 Jan 1915 in Hamilton Co., Ohio, with Rev. Fred Hohmann offciating.12,13,14
     He was a clerk at the U.S. post office by 1917, working there the rest of his career.20,21 He registered for the draft for World War I on 5 Jun 1917, while living at 3241 Wilhelm, Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., Ohio, reporting he was employed as a post office clerk in Cincinnati. He claimed exemption from the draft on the grounds that he had to support a wife and two children, and he was a government employee.3
     Ira and Elsie appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., Ohio, at 3242 Harvest Ave., enumerated 10 Jan 1920, reporting they rented their home. Their children Dorothy, Mildred and Robert were listed as living with them.22

Their children Dorothy, Mildred, Robert, Raymond and Russell were listed as living with them.23
     Ira and Elsie appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., Ohio, at 3242 Harvest Ave., enumerated 8 Apr 1940, reporting they owned a home valued at $4,500, and that they had lived in the same house in 1935. Their children Mildred, Robert, Raymond and Russell were listed as living with them, as were Mildred's husband, Julius Henry Buening, and their 8-month-old son Tommy.24
     Ira registered for the draft for World War II on 26 Apr 1942, while living at 3242 Harvest Ave., Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., Ohio, reporting he was employed by the U.S. Postal Service, in Cincinnati.25 He reported in 1940 he had worked 40 hours the last week of March, and 52 weeks the prior year, earning $2,340.26
     Ira died on 14 Feb 1968 in 7127 Fowler Ave., Madeira, Hamilton Co., Ohio, at age 76, at his home.15,16,17 He was buried on 17 Feb 1968 in Arlington Memorial Gardens, Mount Healthy, Hamilton Co., Ohio.18,19
