Bettie Leigh Canada was born on 12 May 1868 in Halifax Co., Virginia.8,9,10She appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Roanoke, Halifax Co., Virginia, in the household of her mother, Ellen Pocahontas Morgan. Her father, Henry Harrison Canada, was enumerated the same day, 13 households away. It would appear they are living separately, but it may have been an error by the enumerator.14,15
She appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Roanoke, Halifax Co., Virginia, in the household of her parents, Henry Harrison Canada and Ellen Pocahontas Morgan.4
Bettie married Henry Lacy Britton, son of William Edward Britton and Frances A. Buster, about 1888 in Staunton Hill, Halifax Co., Virginia.11,12,13
