Henry Lacy Britton was born on 22 Nov 1868 in Halifax Co., Virginia.6,7,8He appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Halifax Courthouse, Halifax Co., Virginia, in the household of his parents, William Edward Britton and Frances A. Buster.12
His mother died on 2 Jul 1875, when Henry was about 6 years old.13,14 He appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Roanoke, Halifax Co., Virginia, in the household of his father.15
Henry was named an heir in the will of his father, dated 16 Feb 1881 in Halifax Co., Virginia, in which his father left him his double gun, his watch, a yellow colt, $250, and a one-third share in the proceeds of the sale of his real and person estate.5
Henry married Bettie Leigh Canada, daughter of Henry Harrison Canada and Ellen Pocahontas Morgan, about 1888 in Staunton Hill, Halifax Co., Virginia.9,10,11
