     James Edwin O'Brien was born on 7 Jun 1898 in Chicago, Illinois.8,9,10 He appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Chicago, Cook Co., Illinois, in the household of his parents, Thomas Joseph O'Brien and Bridget Agnes Hunt.4 He appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Chicago, Cook Co., Illinois, in the household of his parents.5
     James registered for the draft for World War I on 12 Aug 1918, while living at 3407 Lexington, Chicago, Cook Co., Illinois, reporting he was employed as a law clerk for Winston, Strawn & Shaw in Chicago.1 He appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Chicago, Cook Co., Illinois, in the household of his parents.14
     James appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Chicago, Cook Co., Illinois, in the household of his mother.7
     James married Sarah Margaret Eischeid, daughter of John H. Eischeid and Elenora Shurtz, on 31 Aug 1935 in St. Mary's Church, Shenandoah, Page Co., Iowa, with Rev. Thomas J. O'Brien, the groom's brother, officiating.3,11,12
     Sarah joined her husband in Chicago after their marriage. They appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Glencoe, Cook Co., Illinois, at 670 Shendon, enumerated 24 Apr 1940, reporting that they rented their home, for $150 per month, and that they had lived in Chicago in 1935. Their children James and John were listed as living with them, as was Virginia Anderson, a housemaid, age 26.15
     He was a buyer for a packing house by age 21. By 1930 he was an insurance salesman.16,17
     James registered for the draft for World War II on 16 Feb 1942, while living at 139 Hazel Ave., Glencoe, Cook Co., Illinois, reporting he was employed by Hiram Walker Inc., in Chicago.18 He was a district manager for a wholesale distillery by 1935. In 1940 he reported he had worked 44 hours the last week of March, and 52 weeks the prior year, earning over $5,000.19,20
     He was an executive at a publishing house by 1950, reporting in the 1950 census he had worked 40 hours the prior week.21
     James and Sarah appeared on the 1950 Federal Census of Glencoe, Cook Co., Illinois, at 139 Longwood, enumerated 18 Apr 1950, reporting they lived in a home that was not on a farm. Their children James and John were listed as living with them.22
     His wife died on 6 Jun 1976.23,24
     James died on 3 Feb 1988 at age 89.13
