David Mooberry was born on 7 Oct 1798 in York City, York Co., Pennsylvania.4,5,6 David was baptized on 13 Nov 1799 in St. James of My Lady's Manor, on the border between Baltimore and Harford Counties. It was apparently the closest parish church to his family's home in Fawn Twp., York Co., Pennsylvania, Maryland.12He was probably one of the four males under age 10 listed in the household of his father, William Mooberry, in the 1800 Federal Census of Fawn, York Co., Pennsylvania.13
He moved to Franklin Co., Ohio, in 1806 with his parents.2
David married Margaret Stumbaugh, daughter of John Stumbaugh, on 3 Feb 1823 in Franklin Co., Ohio.7
David appeared on the 1830 Federal Census of Montgomery Twp., Franklin Co., Ohio, with a household consisting of two males under age 5 (sons John and William), one age 5 to 10 (Samuel), one age 30 to 40 (himself), and one female under age 5 (daughter Elizabeth), and one age 30 to 40 (wife Margaret Stumbaugh.)14
David and Margaret moved their family to Groveland Twp., Tazewell Co., Illinois, in 1832, where on 20 Oct 1832 he entered 80 acres in section eleven.2
David appeared on the 1840 Federal Census of Tazewell Co., Illinois, with a household consisting of one male under age 5 (son Alexander), one age 5 to 10 (George), two age 10 to 15 (John and William), one age 15 to 20 (Samuel), one age 40 to 50 (himself), and two females age 5 to 10 (daughters Martha and Margaret), one age 10 to 15 (Elizabeth), and one age 30 to 40 (wife Margaret.)15
He was a farmer and stock raiser, accumulating by purchase and entry about 900 acres. In addition to farming he operated a sawmill for eight or ten years.2,16 The 1850 census of Tazewell Co., enumerated 2 Sep 1850, provides a snapshot of the farm he left at his death. He had held 200 acres of improved land and 100 acres of woodland, valued at $4,000, plus $150 worth of implements. He had 7 horses, 9 milch cows, 4 working oxen, 3 other cattle, 13 sheep, and 14 swine. He had produced during the prior year 150 bushels of wheat, 4,000 bushels of Indian corn, 240 bushels of oats, 30 lb. of wool, 50 bushels of Irish potatoes, $40 worth of orchard products, 300 lb. of butter, and had slaughtered animals worth $75.17
David died on 9 Jul 1850 at age 51, of cholera, after being ill three days.8,9,10 He was buried in Mooberry Cemetery, Tazewell Co., Illinois.11

This census is supposed to include deaths in the year ending 1 Jun 1850, but was not enumerated until 30 Aug, so it appears from other sources his death was actually in Jul 1850, and should not have been included.
