Narrative:
Christian Heinrich Wiemann was born on 2 Mar 1821 in Hilter, Königreich Hannover.4,5,6 He was baptized on 7 Mar 1821 in Johannes der Täufer Kirche, Hilter, Königreich Hannover, with Joh. Christ. Crämer, Clar. Marg. Kleyers, and Berend Henr. Wiemann as godparents.1He immigrated to the United States. According to family lore he immigrated with his brothers Henry and Friedrich, to avoid serving in the German army. It appears they did not actually arrive together. A record has been found that shows Henry's arrival in 1844, but the others were not listed with him. There are records of several other Wiemanns or Weimanns arriving in the late 1830's and early 1840's, of which the one that appears most likely to be Friedrich is a F. H. Weimann, a mason age 22, who arrived in Baltimore in the fourth quarter of 1939. No record has been found that can be identified as Christian.11,12,13
Christian and his brother Henry were in Cincinnati by 1842, when they were living on Woodward St., between Sycamore St. and Broadway.14
He was a laborer in 1842, then became a mason. In Mar 1847 he was authorized by the city council to receive $217.69 for constructing a culvert on Lock St. and the Miami Canal. He continued in that occupation until at least 1861.15,16,17,18
Christian married Mary Engel Niehaus on 3 May 1845 in North German Lutheran Church, Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., Ohio.7,8,9
Christian and Mary appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., Ohio, enumerated 25 Jul 1850, Henry News, age 15, was listed as living with them. What relationship he had to them, if any, is unknown.19
Christian left a will dated 30 Jan 1854 stating he was of Hamilton Co., Ohio, in which he gave his wife all his property, both real and personal, after payment of his debts. He also appointed her as executrix.3
Christian and Mary appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., Ohio, enumerated 12 Jun 1860, reporting real estate worth $1,000.20
Christian and Mary were living at 112 Gest St. about 1861, when he was listed in the city directory at that address. No further record of either has been found except the probate of his will in 1872 and her burial in 1882. While his brothers appeared in nearly every city directory until their deaths, he never appeared after 1861. Neither of them have been found in the 1870 census, and she has not been found in 1880.21
Christian died in 1872.10
His will was probated on 8 Aug 1872 in Hamilton Co., Ohio.3
