Augustus Hartwig was born on 22 Feb 1860 in IndianaG.3,4,5 Augustus and Angeline were twins.6,7
     He appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Huntington, Huntington Co., IndianaG, in the household of his parents, Harmon Jacob Hartwig and Marie Sophie Charlotte Geltmeyer.8
     His mother apparently died between 1862 and 1870, when Augustus was under 10 years old, perhaps as young as two.9,10,11
     Augustus has not been found in the 1870 census. He was not listed with his father, with his two sisters who were with their father's sister and her husband in Cincinnati, with his younger sister who was also listed with their mother's brother in Huntington, nor with any of the other known siblings of either his father or mother.
     He appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Huntington Twp., Huntington Co., Indiana, G in the household of his father, Harmon Jacob Hartwig, and stepmother, Elizabeth Zahn.12
     He was a laborer in 1880.13
     No further record of him has been found. The generally through coverage of the family in local newspapers includes no mention of his death or of him living elsewhere.

     Emma and her sister Angeline appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., OhioG, enumerated 13 Jul 1870, in the household of Gotteib Miller and his wife Bertha, who as their father's sister.13 Emma also appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Huntington, Huntington Co., IndianaG, in the household of her mother's brother Nathan and his wife, Mary C. Glick.14
     Emma and her sister Angeline appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., Ohio, on Tremont St. G, enumerated 7 Jun 1880, in the household of Gotleib Miller and his wife Bertha, who as their father's sister.15 They also appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Huntington Twp., Huntington Co., Indiana, G in the household of their father and stepmother, Elizabeth Zahn.16

     Albert immigrated with his parents, John Hoffmann and Mary in 1858.14 He appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., OhioG, in the household of his parents.15
     His mother died between 1860 and 1870, apparently, as she did not appear with the family in the 1870 census. Albert would have been between 10 and 19 years old.16
     He appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., OhioG, in the household of his father.17
     He was a teamster in 1870, and an express driver by 1880.18,19,20
     Albert appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., Ohio, on Tremont St. G, enumerated 7 Jun 1880, living with his brother Louis, his wife and their children, and his sister Mary. The home was apparently close to the one his future wife was living in, as that household was listed next on the census record.21
     Albert married Angeline Hartwig, daughter of Harmon Jacob Hartwig and Marie Sophie Charlotte Geltmeyer, on 25 Oct 1881 in St. Peter's Reformed Cemetery, Huntington, Huntington Co., IndianaG, with Rev. P. H. Dippell officiating.7,8,9
     Albert and Angeline settled in CincinnatiG after their marriage. They appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., Ohio, at 1717 Harrison Ave. G, enumerated 1 Jun 1900, reporting they rented their home. Their children Carl, Alvion, Herman, and Oscar were listed as living with them.22
