11,12 Ernst and Anne moved by 1829 to the Geltmayer farm, which near but outside of Brockum.
13 He was then known by the farm name Geltmeyer.

Charlotte Louise, having departed from Bremen, Germany. According to family lore, the trip was made for visit, but they liked the country and decided to stay.

Anne joined them the following year. Whether their son Christian did as well is unknown.
19,20 In the United States, he returned to his birth surname, but "Americanized" it by dropping the final double n, using the spelling Kuhlman.

22 His most likely wife died 1844 or 1845 Pennsylvania, most likely.
23,24 Ernst moved to Wooster, Ohio
G, about 1844, with his children, and perhaps with his wife, though it seems more likely she had died in Pennsylvania. They stayed there for a year.
25 Ernst moved to Huntington Co., Indiana in 1845, with his children Anne, Christian, Friedrich, Sophie,
William,
Elizabeth,
Hannah, and
Nathan, settling in Warren Twp., near Makin.
26,27,28,29 He was a mason and a plasterer.
30,31 Ernst appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Huntington Co., Indiana
G, enumerated 23 Aug 1850. His children Frederick, Sophie, William, Hannah, Nathan, and
Hellen were listed as living with him.
3 Ernst married second Bacina F. Erk on 7 May 1853 in Huntington Co., Indiana
G, with Henry E. Decker officiating.
9 Ernst died about Nov 1853 at age ~53.
10 His son Frederick and Lewis Hitzfield were appointed executors of his will, though the will itself cannot be found. On 23 Jan 1854 they held a public auction to sell his personal property, except what had been taken by his widow, "consisting of cattle, hogs, household furnture, etc."
