     She was committed to the state Asylum for Feeble-Minded Children before 1900. She was reported as being unable to read or write at, but able to speak.^10,11,12 The asylum was established by the state in 1865, with the facilities in LincolnG occupied in 1878 under the name of Illinois Asylum for Feeble-Minded Children. It had its own hospital, shops in which inmates made brushes, mattresses, and shoes, and a farm where inmates also worked. In 1909 the name of the institution was changed to Lincoln State School and Colony.¹³
     Euphemia appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Lincoln, Logan Co., Illinois G, enumerated 5 Jun 1900, as an inmate in the Illinois Asylum for Feeble-Minded Children.¹⁴
