Narrative:

James M. Coogan was born in Nov 1871 in MissouriG.4,5
     James married Emma Arbuckle Mims, daughter of John M. Mims and Elizabeth, on 4 Jun 1892 in Logan Co., ArkansasG, with W. B. Richey, justice of the peace, officiating, with the written permission of her mother since she was under age.6,7
     James and Emma appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Six Mile Twp., Logan Co., Arkansas G, enumerated 7 Jun 1900, reporting that they owned their farm, free of mortgage. Their children John and Leon were listed as living with them.1
     James and Emma appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Short Mountain Twp., Logan Co., Arkansas G, enumerated 23 Apr 1910, reporting they were renting their farm. Their children John, Leon, and Bonnie were listed as living with them, as was Lucy B. Casey, a 34-year old housekeeper identified as a lodger.11
     James and Emma appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Ft. Smith, Sebastian Co., Arkansas, at 418 South 13th St. G, enumerated 6 Jan 1920, reporting they were renting their home. Their children Leon, Bonnie, and Fay were listed as living with them, as were daughter-in-law Annie, age 18, and granddaughter Marguarite, 11 months, apparently Leon's wife and daughter.12
     James and Emma appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Six Mile Twp., Logan Co., Arkansas G, enumerated 10 Apr 1930, reporting they were renting their home, apparently from her mother who was listed as living in the same building as owner.13
     He was a farmer until at least 1910. By 1920 he was a laborer, by 1930 on public works.14,15,16,17
     James died on 20 Nov 1939 in Logan Co., ArkansasG, at age ~68.8,9 He was buried in Caulksville Cemetery, Caulksville, Logan Co., ArkansasG.10

Narrative:

Cora Electra Lafferry was born on 23 Jan 1878 in Pine Bluff, Jefferson Co., ArkansasG.5,6,7 She appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Logan Twp., Logan Co., Arkansas, G in the household of her parents, John W. Lafferry and Emma P. Baily.11
     Her mother apparently died before 1887, when Cora was young, as her father re-married in 1887. An undocumented tree on Ancestry.com shows she died in 1883, when Cora was about five years old.12,13
     Cora married Oscar Christopher Mims, son of John M. Mims and Margaret Makinro Warren, on 1 Apr 1900 in Logan Co., ArkansasG, with W. B. Ritchie, justice of the peace, officiating.8,9 She seems to have mainly gone by her middle name, Electra, or the nickname Lectra, by the time of her marriage.14,15,16,17
     Cora and Oscar appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Six Mile Twp., Logan Co., Arkansas G, enumerated 1 Jun 1900, reporting they were renting their farm.18
     Electra and Oscar appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Clark Twp., Logan Co., Arkansas G, enumerated 10 Apr 1910. Their children Omar, John, Lester, Ocie, and Oscar were listed as living with them.19
     Electra and Oscar appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Charleston, Franklin Co., Arkansas, at Branch Rd. G, enumerated 3 Jan 1920, reporting they were renting their home. Their children John, Lester, Ocie, Oscar, Ola, Austin, Mary, and Mitzie were listed as living with them.20
     Electra and Oscar appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Charleston, Franklin Co., Arkansas G, enumerated 3 Apr 1930, reporting that they owned a home valued at $1,500 but did not own a radio. Their children Ocie, Ola, Austin, Mary, and Mitzie were listed as living with them.21
     Electra and Oscar appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Charleston, Franklin Co., Arkansas G, enumerated 6 Apr 1940, reporting they were renting their home for $4 per month, and had lived in the same house in 1935.22
     She was working as a seamstress in a WPA sewing room in 1940, reporting she had worked 18 weeks the prior year earning $220.22
     Cora died on 11 Feb 1943 in Charleston, Franklin Co., ArkansasG, at age 65.5,7 She was buried in Forest Park Cemetery, Ft. Smith, Sebastian Co., ArkansasG.10
