Charles Pruetzel was born on 17 Jan 1840 in Waldeck
G, a small principality between Westphalia and Hesse-Nassau, which became part of Prussia, and later Germany.
4,5,6 He was known to family as Carl, and seems to have sometimes used that name even in formal documents.
1,13,14 Charles immigrated in 1865 and was later naturalized.
15,16 At the time of his marriage, Charles was living in Minorstown, Missouri
G, which later became a part of the city of St. Louis.

Marie Hertel, daughter of Christian Hertel and Elizabeth Boettcher, on 27 Nov 1865 in St. Louis Co., Missouri
G, with Rev. Agustus Cramer, pastor of the Evangelical Church officiating.

G, enumerated 23 Aug 1870, reporting no real estate, but personal estate of $200. Their daughter Wilhelmine was listed as living with them.
