Narrative:

     George Flora was born on 12 Apr 1784 in Pennsylvania.4,5,6 He was probably one of the three males under age 16 listed in the household of his father, Joseph Flora Jr., in the 1790 Federal Census of Dauphin Co., Pennsylvania.12
     Peter Shuster, merchant in Middletown, was appointed as his guardian on 17 Jan 1797 for as long as he remained a minor.13
     He was probably the male age 10 to 15 listed in the household of his mother, Catharine Toot, in the 1800 Federal Census of Lower Paxton Twp., Dauphin Co., Pennsylvania.14
     George married Rebecca Simpson.7,8,9
     On 1 Aug 1809 the court approved the report of the inquest on dividing his father's real estate, concluding it could not be divided but should instead be sold for the appraised value. George's share was $457.80.15
     George moved to Lancaster Co., before 1809.16
     George appeared on the 1810 Federal Census of Hempfield Twp., Lancaster Co., Pennsylvania, with a household consisting of one male under age 10 (unknown), and one age 26 to 45 (himself), one female under 10 (unknown), and one age 16 to 26 (wife, Rebecca Simpson.)17
     George appeared on the 1830 Federal Census of Air Twp., Bedford Co., Pennsylvania, (now spelled Ayr Twp., in Fulton Co.) with a household consisting of one male under age 5 (unknown), one age 15 to 20 (unknown), and one age 40 to 50 (himself), two females under age 5 (daughter Elizabeth and another), one age 5 to 10 (Margaret), two age 10 to 15 (unknown), three age 15 to 20 (unknown), one age 20 to 30 (unknown), and one age 30 to 40 (wife Rebecca.)18
     George appeared on the 1840 Federal Census of Air Twp., Bedford Co., Pennsylvania, with a household consisting of one male under age 5, (son Elias), two age 5 to 10 (George and John), one age 20 to 30 (Joseph), and one age 50 to 60 (himself), one female age 10 to 15 (daughter Elizabeth), two age 15 to 20 (Margaret and another), one age 20 to 30 (unknown), and one age 40 to 50 (wife Rebecca.)19
     George and Rebecca appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of McConnellsburg, Fulton Co., Pennsylvania, enumerated 19 Jul 1850, reporting real estate valued at $500. Their son Elias was listed as living with them. Their son John, listed in the household of Richard Allender, seems to have been living close by as that household is the one preceding theirs in the record.2
     George left a will dated 19 Jan 1858, in which he appointed his sons Joseph and Elias as executors. He directed that after all his debts were paid all his property, real and personal, was to go to his wife for her use during her natural life, including the right to dispose of it. At her death what remained was to be sold, with the proceeds to be divided equally between Joseph and Elias, and one dollar to be paid to each of his other children.20
     George and Rebecca appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of McConnellsburg, Fulton Co., Pennsylvania, enumerated 11 Aug 1860, reporting real estate valued at $600 and personal estate of $100. Their children George and Elias were listed as living with them.3
     He was a farmer until 1840, and a blacksmith by 1850.21,22,23
     George died on 25 Jan 1861 at age 76.10 He was buried in Lutheran Cemetery, McConnellsburg, Pennsylvania.11
     His estate was probated on 11 Apr 1861 in Fulton Co., Pennsylvania.20

It appears from the significant number of unknown children in the 1830 and 1840 censuses that George and Rebecca had many children not listed here. Un-sourced online trees report some of them, and one reports that she had 15 children with 11 living at her death. It lists Susan, Levy, Mary, Charlotte, Lida, Rebecca, and Harriet in addition to those shown here.31
