Narrative:

     He was known to family as Harrison.1,18,3 Benjamin Harrison Logan was born on 28 Jul 1803 in Shelby Co., Kentucky.8,9,10 He was probably one of the four males under age 10 listed in the household of his father, James Logan, in the 1810 Federal Census of Shelby, Co..19 He was probably the male age 16 to 18 listed in the household of his father, James Logan, in the 1820 Federal Census of Shelby Co., Kentucky.20
     Benjamin was named an heir in the will of his father, dated 14 Sep 1829 in Shelby Co., Kentucky, to share with his siblings Sarah, Ann, and Gordon two thirds of his entire estate, including land and slaves. At their mother's death, he was to share with them and their brother William the one third of the estate that had been left to her.5
     Benjamin married Martha Ann Rebecca Williamson, daughter of Thomas J. Williamson and Mary Ellen Mitchell, on 3 Jan 1832 in Robertson Co., Tennessee.11,12,13
     His father wrote a codicil to his will, dated 9 Aug 1842 in Shelby Co., Kentucky, in which he directed that all land, slaves, and personal property that had been left to Benjamin in his will would instead go to Major Samuel W. White and N. Owsley to be held in trust for the support and maintenace of Benjamin's children, and at his death go to them outright. The trustees were allowed to entrust the management of the trust properties to Benjamin.21
     Benjamin Under the division of his father's slaves which was approved by the Shelby Co. court at its Jan 1848 term, Benjamin was allocated three slaves valued at $1,750.22 Under the division of his father's land which was approved by the Shelby Co. court at its Feb 1848 term, Benjamin was assigned Lot 3, 210 acres.23
     Benjamin and Martha appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Shelby Co., Kentucky, enumerated 7 Oct 1850, reporting $8400 in real estate. Their children Mary, James, Benjamin and Emmett were listed as living with them, as is R. G. Faster, a 33 year-old blacksmith. There were also 5 slaves listed, two black males, aged 25 and 35, two black females aged 17 and 16, and a mulatto female aged 11.3,24 He was a commission merchant in Clarksville, Tennessee for many years, trading to New Orleans. After failing in the Panic of 1857, he came back to the farm on Little Bullskin, near Shelbysville.7,25
     Benjamin died on 12 Dec 1858 at age 55.14,15,16
     His will was probated in Shelby Co., Kentucky.26 He was removed to Grove Hill Cemetery, Shelbyville, Kentucky, on 7 Dec 1861.17
