     Annie Kearny Crowell was born on 28 Oct 1860 in Brooklyn, New York.7,8,9
     The family has not been found in the 1870 census. Annie does appear on a passenger list as arriving in New York from Liverpool, England, on 7 Jun 1875, aboard the steamer Adriatic, with her parents. There is no indication as to whether they had been living abroad or were touring.19
     Her father died on 17 Sep 1875, when Annie was 14 years old.20,21
     She was teaching school in 1880, at the age of 19.22
     She appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Leavenworth, Kansas in the household of her mother, Martha Matilda Stewart.5
     Annie married first John R. Garrett, son of Robert Garrett and Ellen Mary Cobb, on 28 Sep 1881 in St. Paul's Church, Leavenworth, Kansas, with Rev. Barry officiating.10,11,12
     Annie and John appeared on the 1885 State Census of Leavenworth, Leavenworth Co., Kansas, with her brother, Walter Crowell, listed as living with them.23
     Annie and John appeared on the 1895 State Census of Leavenworth, Leavenworth Co., Kansas, in the household of his parents, Robert Garrett and Ellen Mary Cobb.24
     Annie and John appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Leavenworth, Leavenworth Co., Kansas, on 9th Ave., enumerated 5 Jun 1900, reporting that they owned their home, free of mortgage. Her mother, Martha, was listed as living with them.25
     Her husband died on 24 Jul 1901 in his office at 6th and Cherokee Sts., Leavenworth, Kansas, from gunshot wounds inflicted by a deranged man.26,27,28
     Her husband having died without a will, an administrator was appointed by the court on 9 Aug 1901. Under the law, she was to receive his entire estate, which included both his own assets and his share of his late father's estate. His estate was estimated in court at $25,000, apparently not including his inheritance from his father.29,30

     Annie and her mother moved to New York shortly after the death of her husband. On 11 Aug 1901, in anticipation of the move, she advertised for sale two harnesses, a buggy, and household furniture.31,32
     Annie married second William F. Kennedy, son of James M. Kennedy and Mary B. Carter, and her first cousin once removed, on 20 Nov 1902 in the Little Church Around the Corner, Manhattan, New York Co., New York, with immediate family members in attendance.13,14,15
     Annie and William appeared on the 1905 State Census of Rahway, Union Co., New Jersey, at 56 Seminary Ave., enumerated 1 Jun 1905, in the household of Robert D. Gibby, president of a trolley company, and his wife.33
     Annie and William appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Rahway, Union Co., New Jersey, on St. George Ave., enumerated 27 Apr 1910, reporting they owned their home, which was mortgaged. Joseph Levendosky, a 22-year-old servant, was also listed in the household.34
     Her second husband died on 31 Dec 1918 in New York City, Brooklyn Co., New York.35

     Annie applied for a passport 17 Jul 1919, stating that she lived at Rahway, New Jersey. She said she was requesting the passport so she could establish permanent residence in England and planning to depart 2 Aug 1919 aboard the Orduna. She was apparently leaving her New Jersey residence at once as she asked for the passport to be sent to her brother's address in New York. The passport was issued 21 Jul 1919.3
     She applied again for a passport 27 Sep 1922, at the consulate in London. She said her legal address was 15 Dey St., New York City, her brother's address, but she had been in the British Isles since Aug 1919 and had no plans to return to the United States.36
     She did return to the United States in 1925, arriving in New York City 2 Nov 1925 aboard the Adriatic, having departed Liverpool, England 24 Oct. She gave as her U.S. address care of her brother, at his address in New York. No record has been found of her living in the U.S., so it appears this was only a visit.37
     Annie died on 25 Aug 1941 in Deep Dene, Four Oaks, Warwickshire, England, at age 80.16,17 She was buried in Rahway Cemetery, Rahway, Union Co., New Jersey.18
