     Vera Mattie Baird was born on 3 Jun 1894 in Missouri.9,10,11
     She moved to Oklahoma Territory with her parents between 1897 and 1900. She appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Perkins Twp., Payne Co., Oklahoma Territory, in the household of her parents, Charles Baird and Luretta E. Noble.6 She appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Stillwater Twp., Payne Co., Oklahoma, in the household of her parents.7
     Vera married first Forest George Chaney, son of George William Chaney and Bertha Etta Furry, about 1910.12,13,14
     Vera and Forest moved to Kansas between 1911 and 1913 with their young son George. They appeared on the 1915 State Census of Lawrence, Douglas Co., Kansas, at 716 Elm, reporting they were renting their home. Their children George and Carl were listed as living with them, as was her brother James.20
     According to Reigel family lore, Vera either abandoned her children or her husband took them away. Forest years later told his children that he got up one morning and she was gone.21,22,23 She and Forest apparently were divorced between 1915 and 1919, as both remarried by 1920. In any event Vera moved to Washington between 1915 and 1919. According to Ruth Riggs Reigel, Vera worked as a nurse or similar caretaker to the parents of Frank Reigel before they married.24,25

     Vera married second Frank William Reigel, son of Benjamin Franklin Riegel and Esther Matilda Gann, on 18 Oct 1919 in Stevenson, Skamania Co., Washington, with Elder I. D. Brown officiating.15,16
     Vera and Frank appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of La Center, Clark Co., Washington, enumerated 20 Jan 1920. His sons Cecil, Vernon, Kenneth and Ernest were listed as living with him.26
     Vera and Frank appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of La Center, Clark Co., Washington, enumerated 11 Apr 1930, reporting that the family did not have a radio. His sons by his prior marriage, Vernon, Kenneth and Ernest, were listed as living with them, as was his father.27
     Vera and Frank appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Paradise Point, Clark Co., Washington, enumerated 22 Apr 1940, reporting that they owned a farm valued at $3,500, and had lived in the same house in 1935.28
     Vera and Frank sold the 21-acre parcel to the rear of their farm to Charles J. and Mable M. Burkhalter for $10 on 24 Aug 1942.29 On 20 Jun 1949 they sold the 5-acre parcel inherited from his parents to Mervin E. and Edith C. Stenlund, for $1,000.30 On 26 Jul 1949 they sold the north half of his original 40-acre farm to Charles J. and Mable M. Burkhalter.31
     Vera and Frank appeared on the 1950 Federal Census of Clark Co., Washington, enumerated 14 Apr 1950, reporting they lived on a farm.32
     Frank died on 29 Jul 1952 in La Center, Clark Co., Washington.33,34
     On 2 Oct 1956 Vera sold the remaining half of her late husband's original 40 acre farm, to Harry N. Brewer, of Kalama, Washington.35
     Vera died on 16 Mar 1970 at age 75.17,18 She was buried on 20 Mar 1970 in Park Hill Cemetery, Clark Co., Washington, next to her second husband.19
