     Gertrude Elizabeth Heiple was born on 6 Nov 1907 in Washington, Tazewell Co., Illinois.8,9,10
     She appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Washington Twp., Tazewell Co., Illinois, in the household of her parents, William Augustus Heiple and Matilda Christina Glabe.4 She appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Washington Twp., Tazewell Co., Illinois, in the household of her parents.17
     Gertrude attended the Knox Conservatory of Music, Galesburg, Illinois, for two years, where she was elected a member of Sigma Alpha Iota, an international music fraternity.18,19
     She appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Washington Twp., Tazewell Co., Illinois, in the household of her parents.20
     Gertrude married Elmo Lloyd Muller, son of William H. Muller and Kathryn A. Wistehuff, on 15 Feb 1936 in Washington, Illinois, at her parents' home. Rev. George Wykle, pastor of the Zion Evangelical Church, officiated.11,12,13
     Gertrude and Elmo appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Washington, Tazewell Co., Illinois, enumerated 23 Apr 1940, reporting that they were renting their home, and had lived in the same town in 1935.21
     She was a piano teacher, starting while in her second year in high school. In 1940 she reported having worked 8 hours the last week of March.22,23,24
